Diggery Doo won his first ever championship today! Elementary Champion 2025!

Some lovely moments came together this weekend in the culmination of 5 years of blood, sweat and a lot of tears with this horse. While far from perfect I am proud of how much our relationship has developed, particularly over the last 12 months. Digger is getting the hang of these dance moves 🕺🕺🕺

If you like your horses compact, clever with a natural ability to collect then Digger is the horse for you!

Bred for the dressage ring, Digger boasts an exceptional walk with miles of overtrack, an elegant trot with suspension and cadence and an uphill canter that has plenty of scope to collect for the higher levels.

Digger is established in the Elementary work with his first Elementary start in May for a win. He is sharp on the aids with a soft mouth and extremely clever. Although he will excel in the dressage ring, he has attended one jumping clinic in October 2024 where he thoroughly enjoyed himself and showed great technique over a jump. He also loves trail riding alone through our 100 acre property, so could be an eventing prospect.

Digger is easy to worm, shoe, travel and is an exceptionally easy keeper. He is also a rare FNQ horse that doesn't have QLD itch or anhidrosis. He is up to date with his teeth and vaccinations (April 25) and has been on a 5 week farrier roster since he was 18 months old.

Digger is looking for a bold, confident and ambitious rider. He could be the ultimate all-rounder for the astute buyer, whether that be interschool, AOR or a professional. Due to his clever and sharp nature he will not be sold to a nervous rider or someone wanting to learn the ropes. He is in full work and ready to enjoy.

Goodest kids today. First big day back in the saddle for me after 5 weeks. I will sleep well tonight. Unfortunately Digger didn't get a ride as he has lost a shoe. I'm quite certain he doesn't give a s**t 🤣

First float loading session for the baby dinosaur 🦕 today. She hasn't loaded since she was 8 months old and took to it like a champ! Gotta love her inquisitive nature and level of trust that made the process that much easier.

My pro tips for practising float loading

🟢 Always practise loading with your float hooked up to your car. Your jockey wheel is not designed to take the unstable weight of the horse and it could fail with you and your horse on board
🟢 Take it slow. Your horse may need multiple sessions to develop their confidence.
🟢 Reward small attempts. This will help your horse to develop confidence and trust in YOU that you are not going to overwhelm their thresholds.
🟢 Prioritise your safety. You are in a confined space with a large flight animal. Safety is paramount.
🟢 Teaching your horse to back off safely and calmly is just as important as teaching them to get on! I see so many horses that bolt off floats and then are terrified to get back on
