Rusty's Place Rusty Smalley: Taking care of you with Emmett Technique and Acess Bars @ Rusty's Place Emmett Technique
The Chameleon approach to body therapies.

Emmett Technique is a safe and simple muscle release therapy developed by Remedial Therapist Ross Emmett. It is used to address pain and discomfort, improve body movement and can restore a positive emotional state. Description of the principle behind the Emmett technique

Emmett Technique is a special form of body therapy that involves application of light finger pressure at specific points. These are in sequences that enable gentle releases for common problems which include neck, shoulder and back pain. Techniques derived from Ross's observation skills that are also integrated within the treatment to encourage homeostasis. Emmett Technique can be used as an effective adjunct to enhance the treatment value of other types of muscle release and neuro-musculoskeletal therapies, for example: Massage, Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy or may be used as an effective therapy on its own. Accurate and fast assessment of imbalances present in the body are an integral feature of this technique. The therapy addresses tissues that may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue (fascia), as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system. Critical Point Analysis

In the science of Critical Point Analysis it is identified that in any highly complex system there is a specific, critical point at which the smallest input will result in the greatest change, where the least force exerts the greatest effect (for example a light touch on a small cog can halt the largest engine). It is with this understanding that the Emmett Technique influences the most complex system known – the human body. Working within this principle the Emmett Technique is able to affect two types of receptors, sensory and muscular, which may also activate an emotional state. These are overlapped together at specific junctions where each one can and will influence the other. The therapist is compared to a body electrician who has the power to locate these overlaps or re-set buttons. The muscle that has tripped out due to overuse or overload may only need a light pressure to re-set.

🌿 I always loved the Emmett Technique but I didn’t realise how much it mattered to me
until I couldn’t do it.

A couple of years ago, I cracked my ribs
and for the first time, as the main provider for my kids,
I had to stop working.

Until then, stopping had never really been an option —
if I didn’t work, I didn’t create money for my kids.

And instead of enjoying the rest…
I got a bit sad.

Not tired.
Not bored.
🤍 Sad.

That’s when I realised something surprising —
I was missing work.
And I was also missing all of this 👇

🌱 The quiet listening to bodies.
The gentle muscle releases.
The moments where someone’s body softens
and their whole system exhales.

Emmett isn’t forceful.
It doesn’t push.
It’s precise, light, and incredibly effective —
working with the body’s natural reflexes
to reduce unnecessary tension and restore ease.

✨ What I didn’t know until I had to stop
was how much doing Emmett feeds me too.

It’s not just about helping bodies move better.
It’s about being present with people —
their bodies and also what’s going on in their world —
and facilitating change without needing to fix anything.

🌿 Funny thing — when I work this way,
my body feels better.
My mind is calmer.
My world works more easily.

So yes…
coming to see me is good for you —
your muscles, your movement, your nervous system.

🤍 And quietly, honestly, seeing you,
it’s good for me too.

🤍 When was your last treatment?

The man behind muscular release technique I am using my clinic… Ross Emmett 💛

Did you know the EMMETT Technique was born from decades of hands-on experience?

Created by Ross Emmett, an experienced massage and remedial therapist, this gentle approach emerged from his extensive background in various body therapies and deep insights into how the body responds to touch.

What makes it revolutionary? The technique uses light finger pressure on specific points - different from traditional trigger points - allowing for instant muscle release and improved movement without the need for pain.

A simple yet powerful approach to body therapy that continues to grow worldwide.

I want to name something I trust.

I trust Sarah’s presence.
I trust the way she listens.
I trust what becomes possible around her
without it needing to be dramatic or loud.

Spending time with her in a 5 Elements class,
and then choosing the 90-day challenge she suggested after the class,
changed how I relate to myself
in ways I couldn’t have planned or forced.

I’m not here to explain it.
Just to acknowledge it.

If you’re curious,
leave your name below
and I’ll message you the group details.
