🌬️ Surprise weather vibes in yoga today! ❄️

What started as a regular morning turned into an unexpected cool change — it felt like a crisp autumn morning in the middle of February! We weren’t dressed for it at all, so we leaned into some fun dynamic stretching and cranked up the Ujjayi breath to build that beautiful internal fire. 🔥

And guess what? It totally worked! We warmed right up from the inside out, stayed focused, and finished feeling energised and toasty. Nature always knows how to keep us on our toes (and mats) 😂

If you’ve never tried Ujjayi breath, it’s a game-changer for generating heat, calming the mind, and syncing breath with movement. Here’s a simple way to practice it:

How to do Ujjayi Breath (step-by-step):
1. Sit comfortably with a tall spine. Close your eyes if it feels good.
2. Start by breathing normally through your nose.
3. Gently constrict the back of your throat — imagine fogging up a mirror with your breath or making a soft “ha” sound (like a quiet Darth Vader or ocean waves). Keep your mouth closed the whole time.
• A good trick to learn it: Inhale through your nose, then exhale through your mouth while making that “ha” sound. Once you feel the throat constriction, close your mouth and keep the same gentle “ha” on both inhale and exhale through the nose.
4. Breathe slowly and deeply — equal length inhales and exhales, smooth and controlled (no forcing!). You’ll hear a soft, whispering or ocean-like sound in your throat.
5. Practice for a few minutes: try 4-8 breaths, or use it throughout your yoga practice.

It builds internal heat, steadies your focus, and feels so soothing once you get the hang of it.

A little breath work can turn a chilly class into a cosy one?
Stay warm, friends 🔥🧘‍♀️

The last 8 weeks I have felt a calling to embrace more actively the purification aspect of Hatha yoga, weekly fasts, clean eating by avoiding processed foods, carbs and sugar and eating only food that nourishes me.

I have shed 8+ kg’s and feel lighter, energetic and more alive in my body.

In Hatha yoga, purification (called shuddhi or cleansing) is a key foundation. The idea is that a clean body and mind make yoga practices—like postures, breathing, and meditation—work much better and help us feel clearer, lighter, and more balanced.

Hatha texts (like the Hatha Yoga Pradipika) describe special cleansing techniques called Shatkarmas (six actions) to remove physical toxins, excess mucus, or blockages from the body. These include things like nasal cleansing (neti), digestive washes (dhauti), abdominal churning (nauli), and others. They’re powerful but usually done under guidance, not every day for most people.

Beyond those specific techniques, Hatha yoga strongly emphasises clean eating and lifestyle as everyday purification. This supports the body naturally, reduces toxins (called ama in yogic terms), balances energy, and keeps the system clear so prana (life force) flows freely.

“Hatha yoga sees the body like a temple or a clear channel for energy. To keep it pure and strong, we focus on clean living as a form of daily purification.

• Eat clean, simple foods: Choose fresh, natural foods—lots of fruits, vegetables (raw or lightly cooked), whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Think colorful, plant-based meals that feel light and energising. Fill about half to two-thirds of your plate with fruits and veggies. This nourishes without overloading the system.

• Avoid heaviness: Cut back on processed foods, too much sugar, salt, fried items, caffeine, alcohol, and anything that feels ‘sticky’ or hard to digest. These can build up toxins and cloud the mind.

• Eat moderately: Leave a little space in your stomach (classically, fill half with food, a quarter with liquid, and leave a quarter empty). This helps digestion and keeps energy high.

• Live simply and mindfully: Combine this with good sleep, positive thoughts, kindness, time in nature, and avoiding excess stress—these all support inner cleanliness.

When we eat and live this way, the body naturally detoxifies, the mind becomes calmer, and our yoga practice feels deeper and more joyful. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about gentle, consistent choices that make us feel clearer and more alive.”

“A dear friend snapped this candid photo of me yesterday… and I just love it 🧡
It feels like it captures the essence of who I am – both as a woman and as a yoga teacher.

A picture really can say a thousand words.

This is me:
🌿 Natural and grounded
🌍 An earth mother at heart
🐢 Living the slow, simple life
🤍 Thoughtful and kind (big animal lover here!)
👂 Listening more than I speak
🍃 Treading lightly on this beautiful earth

If these qualities resonate with your soul, I have a feeling my yoga classes might feel like home to you too.

Come practice with me – let’s breathe, move, and connect gently together.

When the motivation fades and your mat feels far away… roll it out anyway.

True discipline whispers: show up even when you don’t feel like it.
The hesitation is temporary, but the peace, clarity, and strength that follow?

Those benefits last far longer than any excuse ever could. 🌿

At 17, when life felt shattered and the road to healing seemed impossibly long, yoga gently found me. That quiet, life-changing moment marked the true beginning of my journey back to myself—and it became the deepest gift I’ve ever received.

Today, I teach and open my heart and space to others because I know firsthand how transformative it can be when someone meets you exactly where you are, with kindness and presence. Whether you’re carrying old wounds, seeking softness in a busy world, or simply longing to feel more at home in your own body, you are so welcome here. I’d be honoured to walk beside you as we breathe, move, and rediscover what peace feels like—together. 🪷

It felt so wonderful to return to the yoga mat today after a beautifully restful festive break.

We welcomed 2026 together in a gentle, slow, and deeply mindful class—blending Hatha and Yin, soothing pranayama, and the healing vibrations of sound.

Today’s theme: Kindness to your mind and body.

Whatever this new year brings your way, may you carry a quiet inner peace.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to yoga throughout 2025. It has been a true privilege to teach and share this practice with you, and to witness the profound benefits it has brought into your life.

When life feels overwhelming, hectic, or challenging, remember to return to your yoga. Draw on the skills you’ve cultivated along the way: practice pausing, slowing the mind, the body, and the breath. Yoga truly comes alive when we step off our mats and carry it into the world. Let’s share its gifts with others and make 2026 a kinder, more compassionate year—for ourselves and for everyone around us.

Merry Christmas and happy festivities.

See you all back January 14th, 2026🎄⭐️🙏

My favourite thing about teaching yoga classes in natural settings is being surrounded by the sounds of nature – and especially the sound of birds singing.

Sometimes nature can be louder than the birdsong, with rustling leaves or strong winds, but those sweet chirps are always there in the background, like a gentle lullaby.

Every Wednesday 10:30am -12 noon. 🧘‍♀️🌿🛖🦜

The weather is overcast and a little drizzly—the perfect combo to slow down, stretch the body, then snuggle in with a warm blanket and observe the gentle rise and fall of the breath as the mind and body begin to relax into a deep, restful state.

Today, 10:30am-12noon.
