The University of Newcastle Rural Health Club.

BREAATHHE is proud to be one of 29 Rural Health Clubs (RHC) forming the National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN). With 1100+ members, we're extremely proud to be the RHC with the most diverse collection of health degrees. We're also on

e of the largest (by membership numbers) in the country. We have a multi-disciplinary focus – with members from Medicine, Medical Radiation Science, Nursing/Midwifery, Nutrition & Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Oral Health, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Psychology, Social Work and Speech Pathology, plus more – so it’s a great chance to get to know a little more about other health professions and make some contacts that just might come in handy at the end of your studies. We run a number of activities each year in order to promote rural and remote health careers to our members. Our activities provide fun and educational experiences for students and include first aid courses, skills night, rural high school visits, the Rural Soiree, speaker nights, scholarship nights, rural clinical school information nights, cultural awareness training, Allied Health careers information night, celebration of Indigenous culturally significant dates, and lots more…

It’s time to announce our final speaker for the 2025 Soirée!! Speech Pathologist Patricia Webb 💚

As a speech pathologist Pat has had the to complete clinical placements in regional and remote communities in regional NSW and WA during her university degree. These experiences fuelled her interest in rural health services and drove her to return to rural areas after beginning her career in Sydney.

She is currently based in Tamworth, working as a Rural Allied Health Clinical Educator for Hunter New England Local Health District, leading initiatives focused on developing the rural allied health workforce pipeline. Through her work, she advocates for better healthcare outcomes in rural areas, ensuring patients receive high-quality, accessible care through a strong, sustained workforce.

We are so excited to hear from Pat at Rural Soirée this year 💚💚
