We’re excited to welcome Dr Noor Najeeb to Callala Medical Centre, starting from Wednesday, 6th August 2025!

Dr Najeeb is a warm, compassionate GP registrar in her final stage of specialist training in Primary Care. She has a keen interest in women's and children’s health, preventive care, and lifestyle medicine, and is fluent in Arabic. With experience across hospitals and clinics in Queensland and NSW, she’s looking forward to joining our beautiful coastal community and getting to know our patients.

Dr Najeeb will be available Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

To help her settle in, we’re initially limiting some appointment types. But in time, she’ll be providing a full range of general consultations like our other doctors.

Appointments are open now – you can book online via HotDoc or by calling our reception team on 4446 5350.

Please join us in making Dr Najeeb feel welcome!

At Callala Medical Centre, all adult injections and immunisations require a pre-booked appointment through our reception team — these appointments cannot be booked online.

- Adult Injections (e.g. B12, Prolia):
These require a prescription from your doctor before the injection appointment. Common examples include B12 and Prolia (Prolia may also need a blood test beforehand). Once you have the medication, we’ll schedule a time with both a doctor and a nurse to administer it.

- Adult Immunisations (e.g. shingles, COVID, or flu vaccines):
These are typically supplied through government programs and are often already in stock at the surgery. However, you’ll still need an appointment with both a doctor and a nurse.

To ensure safe and timely care, all injection and immunisation appointments must be booked by calling our reception team on 4446 5350. This helps us coordinate everything needed for your visit.

We have a couple of lost items at the surgery that we’d like to return to their rightful owners:

- A support brace that was left behind in Dr. Solling’s consultation room.
- A pair of sunglasses, featuring a distinctive pattern on the arms.

If you think either item might be yours, please call and speak to our friendly reception team.

You’ll need to provide a brief description to confirm ownership before collecting.

In the latest edition of Callala Bay News, our GPs are talking about something especially important for our community — protecting babies, children, and older adults from Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

- What is RSV and why is it a concern?
- Who is most at risk?
- What new protection options are now available — and who’s eligible?

This month’s column has all the answers, including updates on free programs now available through the National Immunisation Program and NSW Health.

Whether you're expecting a baby, have young children, or are over 60 — it's worth a read.

Find the full article in the May edition of Callala Bay News, and as always, feel free to call us on 4446 5350 to ask questions or book an appointment.

At Callala Medical Centre, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful environment for everyone in our community — patients and staff alike.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen a recent increase in rudeness, aggression, and demanding behaviour directed at our reception staff. We understand that health matters can be stressful, but we kindly remind everyone that our team is here to help and deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect at all times.

We have a zero tolerance policy toward any form of abuse, in line with AGPAL standards. This includes aggression, shouting, swearing, intimidation or disrespect — whether in person or over the phone.

Our reception team are often the first point of contact, and sadly, often the first to receive the brunt of patient frustration. While our staff do their best to assist kindly and professionally, they have the right to refuse service to anyone behaving in an aggressive or abusive manner.

To those patients who continue to treat our staff with patience, politeness and generosity: thank you. Your kindness truly makes a difference, and we appreciate you.

Let’s continue to build a community where everyone feels safe and respected.

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on the friendly faces who greet you, support our team, and keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes - our amazing receptionists!

Please join us in thanking Janelle, Venessa, and Naomi for their warmth, professionalism, and dedication. Whether it’s booking appointments, answering questions, or lending a kind ear, they are the first point of contact and the heart of our patient experience.

International Receptionists Day is celebrated on the second Wednesday of May each year to recognise the vital role receptionists play in businesses and healthcare settings around the world. It began in 1991 and has grown globally since then.

To our reception team: Thank you for everything you do, every single day. We appreciate you more than words can say!

Today, we celebrate the incredible contributions of nurses around the world — and right here at Callala Medical Centre, we’re especially proud to acknowledge our own amazing nurses: Annette, Denise, and Winifred.

Your compassion, skill, and dedication are at the heart of our care, and we’re so grateful for all that you do each and every day.

International Nurses Day is held each year on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. It’s a day to recognise the essential role that nurses play in healthcare and our communities.

So today, we say a big thank you to Annette, Denise, and Winifred — and nurses everywhere. Your care truly makes a world of difference.
