You’re not alone — and no, it’s not just because your group chat won’t stop buzzing 😅

Tension, stress, posture (hello desk jobs!), and muscle tightness in the neck and shoulders can all play a role in why your head’s feeling heavy.

Jaw Pain- a common symptom seen in the clinic. What could be contributing? Read on!

Jaw pain is a common complaint with a range of possible causes. It’s not always due to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) itself — in many cases, surrounding muscles, posture, or tension patterns may play a role.

🔹 Muscle tightness from clenching or grinding (bruxism)
🔹 Neck or upper back tension affecting jaw mechanics
🔹 Poor posture (especially from long hours at a desk)
🔹 Stress-related habits like jaw clenching
🔹 Imbalances in how the jaw opens and closes

Chiropractors are trained to assess the musculoskeletal system, including the jaw, neck, and upper spine- not just the back! Treatment may involve manual therapy, soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, and home care advice — depending on individual findings.

In the clinic, our chiropractor may also use dry needling to assist with muscle-related jaw pain, where appropriate and with patient consent of course as it’s not for everyone! Dry needling targets trigger points within overactive muscles, which can contribute to referred pain or restricted movement.

As the weather cools down, it’s super common to feel more stiff and achy. Muscles naturally tighten in response to the cold, circulation slows, and old injuries love to make a comeback.
