Did you know the biggest risk factors for developing breast cancer are being born female and getting older? A regular breast screen, every two years, is the best way to find cancer early 💗

Screen this month and get a free bookmark – plus one to share. Call 13 20 50 to book your appointment, or visit: book.breastscreen.nsw.gov.au/

Put your health first and add ‘book my mammogram’ to your to-do list. 💗

1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. The earlier breast cancer is found, the better your chance of surviving it.

BreastScreen Australia provides free mammograms every two years for women aged 40 and over, with women aged 50 to 74 actively invited by state and territory programs.

We support Breast Cancer Awareness Month and encourage women aged 40+ to book their free 2-yearly screening appointment by calling 📞 13 20 50.

This weekend is NSW Rural Fire Service 'Get Ready Weekend' 📋
It's a good time to prepare for the 'WHAT IFs' and make an emergency plan that could help to protect you and your loved ones. But don't forget - your mental health is important too! Talking to friends and family can help, but sometimes you might need additional support. 💬

If you or someone you know is in need of support, you can call Medicare Mental Health on 📞 1800 595 212 (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm) and a trained mental health professional in our region will talk to you about how you're feeling and refer you to appropriate local services.

🗣️ It's 🗣️
This week we celebrate the important work of speech pathologists and their role in supporting people of all ages to strengthen communication.

We are proud to fund the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District to deliver the Healthy Ears, Better Hearing, Better Listening service. This free program supports preschool and primary school children in Lithgow and Portland, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, with diagnosis, treatment and management of hearing, speech and language difficulties.

With funding from the NSW Rural Doctors Network, we also work with Lithgow Community Projects and Direct Focus Solutions to deliver the Lithgow Outreach Speech Therapy Program, supporting children in Lithgow affected by homelessness and domestic violence.
