Women with a fatty liver are more likely to develop uterine fibroids and endometrial cancer. The lining of their uterus is more likely to grow too thick and in the immediate term this can cause heavy and painful periods. In the long term it can cause fibroids and uterine cancer. When the liver is fatty, it is less able to break down oestrogen. Excess oestrogen as well as insulin can act as growth promoting factors in hormone sensitive tissue. Often improving liver health is the key to balancing s*x hormones.

Objectives: To determine the relationship between the endometrial thickness (ET) and metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in the postmenopausal women who have a comprehensive health examination. Methods: This was a population-based, ...

Antacids can harm your gallbladder. Medications that reduce stomach acid impair the ability of your gallbladder to contract. This can leave stagnant bile behind in your gallbladder, raising the risk of sludge and stone formation. Stomach acid sends a signal to your gallbladder, instructing it to contract. Blocking stomach acid interferes with this. There are usually safer ways to manage heartburn and reflux than taking an antacid.

Background: Gastric acid suppressants have a major impact on gut microbiome which in turn, may increase the risk of cholelithiasis, but epidemiological evidence remains unclear. We undertook this research to evaluate the association between regular ...

Being out in the sun helps to protect your arteries and reduce the risk of heart disease. The sun's UVB rays reduce inflammation in your body by improving the health of your T regulatory white blood cells. Less inflammation means healthier arteries. UVB rays are strongest during the middle of the day, between 11am and 2pm. This is also the optimal time to manufacture vitamin D.

Our findings suggest the skin immune system as a novel therapeutic target for atherosclerosis and provide a novel strategy for the treatment and prevention of atherosclerosis.

Chemotherapy can have many unpleasant side effects. Research has shown that doing some exercise each day can significantly reduce fatigue and "chemo brain" (ie. cognitive impairment). Spending some time on exercise each day will give you better energy and quality of life.

New research in the March 2026 issue of JNCCN—Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network suggests that exercise may help people with cancer stay mentally sharp and better able to handle daily tasks, work, and social activities through chemotherapy treatment delivered on an every two-week...

Fat cells around your torso produce inflammatory chemicals that harm your heart and can eventually lead to heart failure.

The role of central obesity as a predictor of cardiovascular disease has not been fully understood, but a recent analysis from the Jackson Heart Study has provided some answers.

During a poster session at the American Heart Association EPI Lifestyle Scientific Sessions (AHA-EPI) 2026, researchers said that prior research suggested diabetes-associated heart disease may be driven more by fat around the organs, or visceral fat, rather than hyperglycemia. https://mdsc.pe/4c2A4Po

If you suffer with dry, irritated eyes, it could be coming from your stomach. Reflux of stomach contents high up into the surface of your eyes can cause dryness, irritation or the sensation of a foreign body in your eyes. The stomach enzyme called pepsin can be responsible for those symptoms because it's a protein-degrading enzyme that definitely doesn't belong in your eyes. Not all reflux causes obvious symptoms like heartburn or indigestion. Silent reflux can cause eye symptoms, a cough, sore throat, asthma or loss of tooth enamel.

Background: patients with laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) showed detectable levels of tear pepsin that explain the nasolacrimal obstruction. The purpose of this study was to determine whether patients with LPR show ocular surface changes and to ...

Hearing loss in older age due to a lifetime of noise exposure is extremely common. Did you know magnesium can help protect your hearing? Most people aren't getting enough magnesium in their diet. I think it's one of the most important supplements for many reasons.

This study may introduce a significant natural agent for the reduction of hearing damages in noise-exposed population.

Green tea and matcha are healthy for most people, but they may not be appropriate for pregnant women or people with impaired methylation. This is because the antioxidant EGCG has the ability to inhibit folate absorption, inhibit folate activation and can even destroy activated folate in your bloodstream. The dose of EGCG matters, but in pregnancy every bit of folate counts, to ensure healthy development of the baby's brain and spine. Vitamin C helps to protect folate.

Empirical studies have indicated that excessive tea consumption may potentially decrease folate levels within the human body. The main active component in green tea, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), significantly reduces the concentration of ...

A reduced sense of smell in older people can be the first early warning sign of a neuro-degenerative health condition such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis. This makes sense because these degenerative conditions spread throughout the brain, but often hit smell processing sites before they affect motor or speech areas of the brain.

Researchers argue routine smell testing could detect neurodegenerative disease and other health risks years earlier than current exams.

If your gums bleed when you brush or floss, or you get tender, inflamed gums, you could be at higher risk of colon polyps. One day those polyps could become cancerous. There is a strong relationship between the health of your oral microbiome and colon microbiome. Inflammation in the mouth can be a warning of inflammation further down your digestive tract.

(The New York Times) Gum Disease Tied to Colon Cancer Risk. Associated research findings from the National Library of Medicine.

Tooth loss is strongly associated with increased cancer risk, especially oesophageal cancer, stomach cancer, head and neck cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer and blood cancer. Your teeth and gums can be early warning signs there is too much inflammation in your body and you have too much of the wrong microbes living in your digestive tract.

Conflicting results to identify the relationship between tooth loss and cancer risk. Therefore, a dose-response meta-analysis was performed to clarify and quantitative assessed the correlation between tooth loss and cancer risk. Up to March 2017, 25 ...
