One of the best things I ever did for my nervous system was stop watching the news.
Constant fear-based information keeps the body stuck in fight-or-flight. And when your body is in survival mode, it diverts energy away from digestion, detoxification and repair.
Blood flow moves away from the gut.
Digestive enzymes decrease.
Motility slows.
Inflammation rises.
Over time this can contribute to things like bloating, sluggish digestion, fatigue and poor overall health.
Your body was designed to be in rest-and-digest, not in a constant state of stress responding to every global headline.
Chronic fear equals chronic stress.
And chronic stress destroys gut health.
