❌ Myth: People with schizophrenia have "split personalities" or are dangerous.

✅ Fact: Schizophrenia is not the same as multiple personality disorder. It’s a brain-based condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and perceives reality.

Most people with schizophrenia are not violent; they’re actually more likely to be victims than perpetrators.

If you’ve said one of these before, you’re not alone.

But it’s time we do better.
Not all disabilities are visible.
Not all support looks the same.

And not every compliment is kind.

🧠 Let’s Talk About Ableism

Ableism is discrimination against disabled people, and it often shows up in ways we don’t even realise.
It can look like:

🚫 Assuming someone is “faking” their disability
🚫 Buildings without ramps or accessible toilets
🚫 Saying things like “you don’t look disabled”
🚫 Ignoring someone when they use a support person to speak
🚫 Treating people with disabilities like they’re less capable or “inspirational” just for existing

These everyday moments may seem small, but they send a loud message: You don’t belong.

At Astute Living Care, we’re here to change that.
Because inclusion isn’t optional... It’s essential.
