| āI've always wanted to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable, which led me to the Child Protection Unit at The Childrenās Hospital Network. Although I've only been in this role since April 2024, I've loved every minute of it.
As the Out-Of-Home-Care (OOHC) Coordinator at Sydney Childrenās Hospitals Network, I coordinate care for children in OOHC across NSW. My role involves liaising with SCHN staff, caseworkers, and other OOHC Coordinators to ensure these children receive the comprehensive health services they need.
Providing services for children in OOHC is crucial because these young people have often experienced significant harm, trauma, neglect, and abuse. I am deeply passionate about the health, welfare, and safety of all children and young people, not just those in OOHC. My goal is to ensure they receive the care and support they need to thrive.
The best part of working in the Child Protection Unit is the incredible team at both Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. They are truly dedicated, hardworking, and amazing people who share the same commitment to protecting and supporting children and young people.ā - Jocelyne Noonan, Out-Of-Home-Care Coordinator at Sydney Childrenās Hospitals Network.
The Child Protection Units at our hospital and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick are dedicated to safeguarding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, reducing the effects of harm, and enhancing their overall welfare. This Child Protection Week is a chance to recognise the work they do and remind everyone that āevery conversation mattersā to protect a child's safety and well-being.
