🎉 Trivia is back – and we invite you to support a meaningful cause

Australia Timor-Leste Advancement Society Ltd.(ATLAS) is a not-for-profit organisation focused on education, job creation, and repaying a debt of honour to the people of Timor-Leste — who courageously protected Australian soldiers during World War II in 1942.

🇹🇱 Why Timor-Leste matters
Timor-Leste is one of the world’s newest nations of the 21st century, with a population of approximately 1.3 million people. Remarkably, around 40% of the population is under the age of 25, making education and employment opportunities critical to the nation’s future.

📘 Education is the key to the success of any nation.
Through scholarships, education support and initiatives that encourage employment pathways, ATLAS works to help young people build skills, independence and hope for the future.

To support this important work, ATLAS is hosting a Trivia Afternoon:

Sunday 8 March 2026
12.30pm for a 1.00pm start
Dooley’s Regents Park

We are also seeking donations for our Trivia raffle.
Raffle donations help us raise essential funds to continue supporting education and opportunity in Timor-Leste.

All donors will receive:
• A Certificate of Appreciation
• Acknowledgement on the day
• Recognition in the event program

“It is often the quiet moments that carry the greatest meaning.”

The meaning behind our conductors’ walk and uniform

As a hearse arrives at or departs from a service, you may notice our conductor walking ahead.

This moment is intentional and deeply respectful.

Walking in front is a way of leading with honour — guiding your loved one with care, dignity, and quiet reverence on their final journey. It allows the way ahead to be prepared calmly, so families can remain present and focused on saying goodbye.

You may also notice our conductors wearing traditional tail suit jackets and striped trousers. This uniform has its origins in 19th-century England, where funeral attendants dressed formally to reflect the solemnity of the occasion and the importance of their role. Over time, the striped trousers became a symbol of respect, professionalism, and tradition within funeral care.

Today, these details remain an important part of how we serve families. We are honoured to keep this tradition going, carrying it forward with care, meaning, and respect.

As a family-owned funeral home, we believe these quiet gestures matter. Every step taken and every detail observed is guided by compassion and understanding because behind every service is a life deeply loved.

Every step guided with honour. Every tradition is carried forward with care.

In times of deep sorrow, many people look for meaningful ways to honour lives lost and bring light into the world.

A mitzvah is a Hebrew word that means a good deed — an act of kindness, compassion, or moral responsibility done with intention. Mitzvot remind us that even in the darkest moments, goodness, care, and humanity still matter.

In memory of the 15 lives lost in the Bondi attack, these fifteen suggested mitzvot invite us to respond with love, connection, and hope:

Fifteen suggested Mitzvot for the 15 people lost
1. Give to others – donate to organisations that serve and support others.
2. Uplift the sick – visit or check in on someone who is unwell.
3. Help those who have helped you – do a small task for a parent or older relative.
4. Open your home – offer hospitality to someone you may not have thought to.
5. Travel with care – assist someone with transport and treat the roads and drivers with respect.
6. Prioritise family – spend the first hour of your evening with family, screen-free.
7. Gratitude first – begin your day by giving thanks for the good around you.
8. Act with intent – pause for a moment of silence before beginning a task.
9. Kindness to animals – care for your pets before sitting down to your own meal.
10. Work with integrity – give the time and effort you committed to give.
11. Warmth and positivity – greet others with a smile and genuine conversation.
12. Cherish your partner and friends – remind them how grateful you are for them.
13. Prayer for healing – say a prayer for the physical and spiritual healing of all victims.
14. Teach children – read stories that show the goodness and kindness in the world.
15. Legacy of life – empower the next generation to move forward with hope, not fear.

May these small acts of kindness honour those lost, support those grieving, and remind us that light, compassion, and love will always matter. 🤍
