Who has seen this robot arm doing the rounds on social media?

It is a remarkable piece of art that was on display at Guggenheim Museum. The robot arm was programmed to try to contain the hydraulic fluid that’s constantly leaking out in order to keep itself running. In the beginning it had enough time to do happy dances for spectators as the amount of liquid that was spilling out was only small, but as time went on the amount of liquid that escaped grew and so the robots arm was able to do less dancing until all it was doing was trying to contain the fluid in order to keep itself alive.

The arm slowly came to a halt in 2019, but with a twist - The Robot, called Kuka Servo, actually ran off electricity, not hydraulics. Meaning it was working its entire life towards something it didn't even need.

There are many interpretations of this amazing piece of art, I would love to hear your interpretation!

: “No piece of art has ever emotionally affected me the way this robot arm piece has. It's programmed…”

Do you often find yourself going over arguments or events of the day and wonder why you reacted the way you did?

It is easy to look back without emotion and see a better way to do things.

The problem is that when our emotional mind and our logical mind are in conflict, it is the emotional mind that will win out (hence the crazy yelling and screaming)

Once the emotion is taken away we can logically see better ways to deal with things.

Do you need to find ways or new skills that you can use to bring the emotion down, so that you can start to have your logical brain and your emotional brain work as a team

Did you know that fear can have an impact on your body during birth.

Have you ever heard of the fight, flight or freeze response? This is an automatic response our bodies go into when we have a sense of fear or danger about something.

When this happens our body automatically redirects blood and oxygen to our defence muscles to help us in the event we need to defend ourselves form this perceived threat. When this happens blood and oxygen get redirected away from the uterus, which surprisingly is not a defence muscle, and stops it functioning the way it needs to.

So if you are holding onto any fear about childbirth, whether it is from a previous birth that didn’t go the way you wanted, or planned. Or if it is from other outside influences that may be having you fearing childbirth, finding a way to deal with those fears is so important.

Looking to the future isn't always bad, in fact if you are forward planning, or looking forward to something that is happening in the future it is a great thing.
However, if you spend your days worrying about the future and this worry is stopping you from enjoying your days, then this is for you.
Now, for me I am not the person that wants to spend my time writing out journals and writing down what I am grateful for, don't get me wrong, I love the idea of it, and have bought many a pretty book in the past with the intention of doing just that, but it lasts maybe a week and then I'm over it.
For me I want something quick that I can do as I am going about my normal day, that isn't going to have me needing to set aside time during my day.

We often spend so much time in our heads either thinking about the past or worrying about the future. It is important to stop and be present in the here and now . I know, I know easier said than done, but what if I told you I have some tips to help you focus on what is in front of you as opposed to worrying about the future. Stay tuned for my next post where I will share my top ways of changing your focus

As the new year begins, we often hear about how terrible the previous year was and how we are looking forward to the new year and hope that it will be better.

On New Year’s Eve I was sitting watching the news (something I rarely do) with my mum, and they had a look back over the year that was, and I could easily see how people can get bogged down in looking at the negatives, there was not one positive story shown throughout the clip I watched. However, I can’t believe that nothing good happened in 2021.

For me 2021 was a great year. I studied courses I enjoyed, I started work as a clinical hypnotherapist, that I love and I continued teaching HypnoBirthing and even started teaching at RNSH, which is great, and then I got to spend time with my daughters, watching them grow and learn new things.

You see if you focus on the negative in your life, you will see the negative. If you focus on the positive, then you will see the positive. Changing your perspective will have a huge impact on how your year will play out, and I know it’s easy to say and maybe not so easy to do, but this is something I focus a lot on with my hypnotherapy clients, so if this is something you would like help with or to find out more about. Reach out and we can discuss how hypnotherapy can help you have a positive 2022

Something I like to point out in my HypnoBirthing class is that there is different ways to give the same information, and it can be useful to clarify the information you are being given so that you can make an informed decision.

👀Sometimes it can be easy for our brains to seek out fear. Though it isn’t surprising when statistics are presented in such a way that can evoke certain emotions.

Often facts can be misinterpreted depending on how information is presented to us. With this example here, it isn’t hard to see why the rates of are on the rise....

INDUCTION OF LABOUR from

Sometimes IOL is necessary and doctors may recommend inducing and for the benefit of the baby, the birthing person, or both. Hypertensive diseases, including chronic high blood pressure and preeclampsia, are conditions that may require accelerated delivery.
But there are many other reasons IOL is ‘recommended’... some of these are due to our defensive systems of care and a systemic culture of wanting to imitate human physiology and nudge women’s bodies into giving birth.

Do birthing people actually get the full picture?

⏩ Consider the increased discomfort experienced by birthing people due to synthetic hormones
⏩ Consider the longer length of labour, frequent examinations, increased chance of infections
⏩ Consider the physical damage done to birthers due to increased interventions - episiotomy, forceps, CS
⏩ Consider the emotional trauma of going through this process
⏩ Consider the medicalisation of birth dependant on technology, restricted to the bed, and CTG monitoring that we know can be ineffective
⏩ Consider the epigenetic remodelling that can impact on later health outcomes
⏩ Consider that most labor and delivery units are not built or staffed appropriately to accommodate the increase in occupancy of those induced at full term
⏩ Consider the lack of meaningful care which can be compromised due to the conveyer belt process
⏩ Consider that bonding and attachment with could be affected
⏩ Consider the PTSD of the parents that can follow
⏩ Consider the LACK OF INFORMED CONSENT about this process

Are we actually giving birthing people the informed picture??? Or are many birthing people being scared into a medical birth with statistics?

Thoughts?
