Five Elements Acupuncture

Five Elements Acupuncture Acupuncture, Cupping, Homeobotanical herbals Zoe Norris B App Sc (TCM) is a qualified acupuncturist and practitioner of traditional Chinese herbal medicine.

Zoe takes time to listen to your concerns, and makes sure treatments are gentle and stress-free. Zoe uses acupuncture, cupping and Chinese herbs to manage many common health problems, including insomnia, muscle pain, joint pain, menstrual problems, anxiety, depression…and much more.. Zoe was first introduced to the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine at a young age when she was determined to treat her chronic eczema. The steroid creams she was prescribed were continually increasing and had prevented her from donating blood. This triggered awareness that conventional treatments were not providing a cure, but merely suppressing the symptoms and leaving the underlying cause untreated. She enlisted the help of an acupuncturist who, after several months of treatment, successfully rebalanced the body from within, and cured the condition. As an added benefit, the treatment also reduced the severity of her hay fever. Zoe encourages others to use TCM because it aims to treat the underlying cause of disease as well as the symptoms. As a natural and holistic form of healing, TCM provides drug-free pain relief, as well as assistance in the prevention of disease, and the maintenance of optimum physical and emotional well-being. Benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine include:
• Neurological conditions such as headaches, migraines, difficulty sleeping, nervous tension, stroke, some forms of deafness, facial and inter-costal neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, some forms of paralysis, sequelae of poliomyelitis, peripheral neuropathy, noises in the ears (tinnitus), dizziness, and Meniere's disease.

After watching David Attenborough's Oceans movie, I've looked up the safest tinned tuna. "Dolphin Friendly" doesn't necessarily mean the fishing methods are sustainable. Check labels and look for skipjack tuna that is caught using pole-and-line technique, or trolling or handlining. These three methods are sustainable, and do not catch unwanted sea life.

Did you know that Australians eat about 50,000 tonnes of tuna every year? [1] That’s roughly the same weight as the Sydney Harbour Bridge! Unfortunately, the global tuna industry is rife with overfishing and inappropriate fishing methods that harm protected species, and it can be difficult to tell...

Who would like to sponsor me for riding in the rain tomorrow? I'm cycling in the MSGong virtual ride from 9th October to 8th November, as the actual event was cancelled this year. I'd love some more support and motivation to get out and ride in the rain this wet week coming 😏

Prebiotics...what are they?? They're a certain type of fibre that our gut bacteria thrive on. Gut bacteria produce many nutrients that our bodies need, but can't get from our diet. Prebiotics seem to be more important than taking probiotics because without prebiotics, the probiotics cannot thrive.

Prebiotics are types of fiber that feed your friendly gut bacteria, leading to all sorts of benefits. Here are some healthy foods that are rich in prebiotics.

Exercise creates a brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which is basically Miracle Grow for your brain. When you exercise, your brain becomes more elastic. Exercise also helps to improve your mood, boost your energy, and reduce overall stress in your body and mind.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
One of my favorite benefits of exercise is that it improves insulin sensitivity, which is the biggest contributor to advance aging. Exercise actually makes your cells and muscles more sensitive to insulin so you don’t need as much. Less insulin means less dangerous visceral belly fat. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Daily movement also enhances detoxification by stimulating the colon and releasing toxins through your sweat. It boosts detoxification of environmental chemicals. Vigorous exercise will help you work up a sweat, but gentle exercise keeps your circulation going and flushes out all the toxic fluids that build up in your lymphatic system. Even just lying on your back and putting your legs straight up against the wall for 20 minutes can make a huge difference. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Clearly, daily movement has whole-body benefits. These are just a few of them. The question becomes, how do we incorporate movement daily? Here are three simple ways. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Make it a priority and think ahead. Every single day I schedule time in my calendar to work out. If I don’t schedule it, I won’t do it. Also, make it easy.
⁣⁣
Do it first thing in the morning. We all know how easily pushing exercise to the back burner and subsequently neglecting it can become. Do your daily exercise first thing in the morning to jump-start your metabolism and set your day on the right course.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Make it fun. I encourage you to explore all the fun things you may enjoy and save exercise for those times when you just can’t find a way to play on your own or with someone else. Vary up your routine and above all, make it fun.
⁣⁣
Ever since I’ve made movement part of my life, I notice that I’m happier, calmer, stronger, and I just feel good. If you could put exercise into a pill, it would be a blockbuster drug. So I encourage you to get up today and move your body, even if it’s just for a few minutes.⁣⁣
