We’ve gone international baby! 🌎

Our wonderful Kerryn has taken time out of her travels to attend the Japan Mobility Show! She is checking out a wide range of mobility items that we hope to see on Australian shores too!

One of her favourite items was a wheelchair that can climb stairs, how freakin cool is that! 🤓

I am sure that she will share the golden nuggets she has picked up along the way when she gets back!

With all of the news coverage around NDIS changes, we wanted to jump in and give you some key information.

1. The tiered registration proposal has not come into affect yet! There is no need for unregistered providers to start the rego process now

2. The new registration process will be consulted on in October (watch this space)

3. The NDIS Commission released a statement on Friday 20 September (linked in our stories) with the most up to date info

4. The NDIS Commission website is your best source of truth

5. The first round of registration changes will impact Support Coordinators and Supported Independent Living Providers

6. We are happy to help answer any questions you may have about these changes, DM us or comment below

In real terms, this could be day out to , a walk around , body doubling to get chores done around the house, support with meal prep and cooking or a friendly face your next health appointment 🤩

We have another introduction, say hi to Craig 👋

Craig has been working the learning support team at Cranleigh School for 6.5years supporting students with significant intellectual disabilities engage in a specialist education setting.  

He has also been spending his *spare time* working with Sense Rugby (an Occupational Therapy based Rugby Program). Sense Rugby aims to support neurodiverse children to successfully engage in team supports.  

On top of all of this, he was also a coach for 1st Grade Football at Wests Rugby Club for 10 years and he is now looking after the Operations side of the club!  

In his time off you’ll find him at the gym, going to the movies and spending time with his family ❤️

Craig will be starting to work with upstream clients in the next few weeks and he is looking forward to meeting you all ✨

We have decided to hold a live Q&A session to bust myths, share tips and and tricks and to answer your burning questions about the NDIS.

This session is open to participants, carers, providers, teachers and people who are thinking about applying for the NDIS.

We haven’t set times and dates yet, as we want to schedule it on a time and day that suits you!!

Structuring the NDIS around principles of choice and control recognised that not having those things puts people with disability in more vulnerable situations. That’s true for support workers, too.

This Christmas we celebrate 3 years of The Upstream Collective and that is the best present we could ask for.
