Did you know that Rheumatoid Arthritis can be improved with exercise?

A recent multicentre RCT published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine reveals that high-intensity interval training (HIIT), combined with strength exercises, can significantly improve cardiovascular health, fitness, and overall health in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The study found improvements in VO2max, waist circumference, muscle strength, and overall well-being, without increasing pain or disease activity. 🚴‍♀️🏋️‍♂️

These results suggest that supervised HIIT is a safe, effective option for RA management.

📢 Do additional motor control or strengthening issues affect rotatory cuff related shoulder pain?

A recent study explored whether adding motor control or strengthening exercises to education could improve outcomes for those with rotator cuff related shoulder pain (RCRSP).

🔍 Key Takeaways:
- 123 participants were divided into three groups: Education, Education Strengthening, Education Motor Control.
- All groups showed improvements, but adding exercises did not significantly enhance results beyond education alone.
- Daily exercises and supervised sessions were included over 12 weeks.

💡 Implications:
- Education alone can be an effective intervention for RCRSP.
- Further research is needed to determine the optimal rehabilitation approach.

This goes to show that is important to get a good quality diagnosis. If the issue is rotator cuff related strengthening exercises with that band may not be as helpful as you thought!
