A fantastic weekend at the annual SEED conference! Always a great event; a real highlight of the learning year, and this year was no exception!
Won’t lie; felt great to smash out an upper body session at the hotel gym, then hear a talk including the absolutely undeniable benefits of exercise in health and fertility!!!!

I lifted at MegaNats yesterday!!!!!!! 😍
Let’s be honest: it would be hard to objectively say I had “a good meet”. I went 5/9, set no new PRs for myself, and placed 5/5. 😅
BUT!
I am actually really happy with the day!!!
(I know, weird right?)

First up: wow what a great competition APA are running there. So well organised. Incredible spotters (who I think literally saved my life on my failed third squat!) And as always, I got to meet and lift with some amazing women who are absolutely inspiring! I wish I could have stayed after the session but alas I do have to work today (and had to get back to my children!)

This was honestly the best meet prep I could have had under the circumstances. Val ( ) tailored my nutrition coming in so I wasn’t stressed at all, weighing in comfortably while still being carb replete and hydrated. I followed my peaking program to the letter, and felt really capable and powerful on the day. And six months of rehab on my torn subscapularis with the incredible Cam from FINALLY paid dividends, I regained the ability to perform a competition bench press literally two weeks before comp. 😅

My technique let me down on the platform, and the strength gains I’ve made in the past six months didn’t get reflected in my total. And that’s ok! I’m still learning! Plus, the lifts I DID make… they all moved better than the last time I made them! 😅 There will be serious technique work before I step on the platform again. (Which I will. Just not for a while! I am tired!!!)

Huge thanks as always to for all the EVERYTHING he does. ❤️ love you!!

And my wonderful coach who just keeps on challenging me to surpass what I thought my limitations were, and do these crazy things I never imagined I could achieve! The woman with chronic back problems who collapsed under the UNLOADED BAR in our first session is now squatting triple figures at Nationals!!!! Ridic!!!

The photo above from .stronghold may be my new favourite picture of myself. Game face ON!

I’ll post the videos when they come through!

What an amazing experience today at APA Bench Press Nationals!
I can’t say I put on my best ever performance (few contributing factors there!); but I definitely put up the best I could on the day, and won the U69 M1 category! Which is SUPER AWESOME!!! (How did I get here????? 😬)
Full of gratitude to for everything as always, for being the best coach I could possibly ask for, Cam at for keeping this aging machine on the road, and to my incredible mum for babysitting my three kids so I can just enjoy the day!!!

If you’d told me three years ago that
- I would learn to run
- I would be able to run 5k
- I would choose to run a 5k most weeks
- FOR FUN
I would have started laughing at point one and flat out told you to go away by point 4.
(If you told me I still wouldn’t be QUICK, I’d possibly have believed that lol 😅)
Anyway. Today was my 50th Parkrun! I set a new PR, and generally just revelled in being able to trust my body to… DO THINGS. I’ll never be up the front of the field, and that’s absolutely fine with me. I’m really more of a lifter, and still can’t quite believe I can run at all. But oh am I loving it!!!
Can’t speak highly enough of the Parkrun community. Runners, walkers, dogs, parents with prams… it’s truly such a vibe. Gonna buy my red “50” t-shirt now. 🥰
