Do you know the numbers that matter most? Do you know your current LDL (or bad cholesterol) is? Did you know that new guidelines state that if you have heart disease and had a previous heart attack or stroke you should have an LDL less than 1.4mmol/L to reduce the likelihood of having another event.

Controlling your cholesterol significantly reduces your chance of having another heart attack or stroke and you would be surprised by just how many people do not control their cholesterol levels well enough even though they have had a cardiac event.

Hot off the press! After decades of discussion, the myth around eggs and ‘bad’ cholesterol has been turned on its head.

Latest research from Australian researchers has now shown that consuming 2-eggs per day as a part of a balanced diet does not increase cholesterol levels where in fact it actually lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol.

What has shown to increase your cholesterol is having a diet high in saturated fats, and eggs are low in these bad fats.

All people with or at risk of cardiovascular disease can incorporate 1-2 eggs daily as a part of a healthy and balanced diet. 🐔🥚❤️

At Heart Support Australia, we are extremely lucky to have so many volunteers who generously give their valuable time to contribute towards achieving the vision and mission of our organisation.

This week is National Volunteer Week with the theme of Connecting Community and on behalf of Heart Support Australia, we would like to take this opportunity to recognise, appreciate and thank each and every one of you for the positive impact you are making in supporting and connecting the cardiac community right around Australia.

Whether you are a Patient Visitor providing peer support to hospital in-patients, a Peer Support Group Leader providing peer support, information and education at your local group sessions, or one of our Board Members fulfilling governance duties, Heart Support Australia cannot exist without you.

You all represent what is wonderful in the world and we are so appreciative of all that you do – thank you. ❤️
