to some valuable professional development late last year 👣

One of our physiotherapists, Elliott, was grateful for the opportunity to attend a specialised microprocessor knee course with Ottobock in November. The session explored advanced physiotherapy approaches for people with lower limb amputations, with a strong focus on maximising functional outcomes using a range of microprocessor prosthetic knees.

Continuing to build our knowledge and skills means we can bring the latest, evidence-informed care into the clinic as we head into 2026.

A big thank you to Ottobock for having us.

If you’re a prosthetic user, our team is here to support you in improving function, confidence, and everyday independence — and helping you work towards what matters most to you.

A few weeks ago—just before our Christmas shutdown—we were grateful to welcome Tom Chapman, Para Sport and Classification Advisor (NSWIS/ACTAS) from Paralympics Australia, to Momentum Physio + Rehab Canberra.

Tom shared valuable insights into the role of allied health in Para sport, sparking great discussion around collaboration, athlete pathways and how physiotherapy can support performance, participation and long-term wellbeing.

A big thank you to Tom for taking the time to visit, share his expertise and connect with our team. We appreciate the opportunity to learn, reflect and continue strengthening our support for Para athletes within our community.👏

🎉 Happy New Year 🎉

We’re back in the clinic for 2026 — and yes, the Christmas decorations have officially been packed away 🎄✔️

After some lighthearted office debate (and a quick check on Twelfth Night traditions), we decided not to test our luck 😉

Traditionally, decorations come down on Twelfth Night (January 5) or Epiphany (January 6), marking the official end of the festive season — and apparently leaving them up past this date is considered bad luck by some.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back and supporting your physio, rehab and movement goals in the year ahead. Appointments are now open if you’re planning your care for the coming weeks.

Here’s to a healthy, positive 2026 💙

Today is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD). This year’s theme is: Fostering disability inclusive society for advancing social progress, which means we all need to work together to make society fairer and respect the rights of people with disability.

MS Plus supports IDPwD everyday through its purpose of breaking down barriers and working alongside people with disabilities to achieve their goals.

This IDPwD ask yourself, what can you do to:
· Take away barriers that stop people with disability from joining in.
· Make sure people with disability have the same chances as others.
· Have health care and good education that everyone can use.
· Include people with disability in all parts of life.

The moment you’ve all been waiting for… the pics of the glorious mo’s have arrived! 😄🥸

The Momentum team have officially wrapped up Movember — and our Directors have been proudly sporting these fine specimens all month to help spark conversations and raise funds for men’s health.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the cause, donated, shared our posts, or simply had a laugh along the way. Every bit of awareness makes a difference.

The campaign may be finished, but donations are still open if you’d like to contribute to this important cause.

👏 Well done team — and farewell to the mo’s… until next year!

🌊 Get On the Water — All Abilities Welcome!

We’re excited to share Sailability’s upcoming “Come-N-Try Day” — a wonderful community initiative that gives people of all ages and abilities the chance to experience the joy of sailing in a supportive environment.

Whether you’re new to sailing or simply curious to try something different, Sailability offers adapted boats and experienced volunteers to ensure a safe, welcoming day on the water.

🗓 Date: Wednesday 3rd November (Tomorrow!)
📍 Location: Canberra Yacht Club, Yarralumla

At Momentum Physio & Rehab Canberra, we love highlighting local events that support inclusion, activity and community connection — and this is a great one to get involved in.

If you or someone you know would enjoy a day out on the water, check it out and get involved!

🌟

The Canberra Yacht Club Sailability program in conjunction with Capital Region Muscular Dystrophy is holding a come and try sailing afternoon on Wednesday 3 December between 3 and 5 pm. The sessions will be held at the C*C docks at 1 Mariner Place Yaralumla.

These sessions are free of charge.

Disability parking is available with no step access to the jetty.

This is a great opportunity if you are looking for a new experience or sport. We can cater for a wide range of abilities and, who knows, you might decide to keep going and join our regular Sunday sessions or even race.

We will run two 45 minute sessions staring at 3pm and 4pm with several boats on the water at a time

The Canberra Yacht Club Sailability program uses an accessible dock and "all abilities" boats. The boats are extremely stable with the crew seated facing forwards with all controls within easy reach. Buoyancy vests will be provided.

Each boat will be skippered by an experienced sailor with you as the crew. You can be involved in operating the boat as much or as little as you want.

A safety boat will be on the water at all time to support the sailors.

Hoists are available for those requiring assistance accessing the boats.

If you are interested or would like to discuss your specific needs please phone 0409760162

Bookings are essential.

Today, we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have served and continue to serve our country.

At 11am, we join all Australians in observing a minute of silence to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their dedication and bravery.

Lest we forget.

This incredible effort is a reminder that progress comes from persistence — one training session, one recovery, one goal at a time. At Momentum Physio + Rehab, that’s exactly what we help our clients do every day — take the next step toward their own version of the finish line.

Whether it’s recovering from injury, building strength, or rediscovering confidence in movement, we’re here to help you keep moving forward.
