Why Every Jagannath Temple Is Not a “Dham” ?
Not every temple can be called a Dham. A Dham is the original, divinely ordained abode of the Lord. Sri Jagannath Dham, Puri is that eternal seat — Purushottama Kshetra — glorified in sacred texts like the Skanda, Brahma, and Padma Puranas. In Sanatan Dharma, only four places are scripturally entitled to the status of Dham:
Puri
Badrinath
Rameswaram
Dwarka

These are not symbolic titles — they are scriptural truths, each established by divine will. Lord Jagannath is worshipped with love across the globe, and such temples are cherished spiritual centers. But the term Dham is reserved for places where the Lord has divinely manifested as per the scriptures. Sri Jagannath Dham, Puri alone holds that sacred title, where the Lord resides in His unique Daru Brahma form, and where divine energies eternally converge.

To call any other place “Jagannath Dham” misrepresents scriptural truth and risks diluting the sanctity of Puri — a cornerstone of Bharat’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

Let us unite to uphold spiritual truth, honor sacred tradition, and protect the eternal legacy of Sri Jagannath Dham, Puri.

We have only FOUR Dham for Hindus, Badrinath, Dwaraka, Puri, and Rameswaram.
