"It is not the outer world of situations and circumstances that solely dictate our lives. Rather, it is the level of awareness we bring to it."
— Kieran O’Callaghan-Rishikiz, Jai's Story Part 1
One of the most powerful messages in Jai’s Story is that we don’t all experience reality in the same way, even if the situation is identical. Why? Because what truly shapes our experience isn’t the outer world, but the level of awareness and patterns in the mind that we bring to that experience.
In the book, Kieran beautifully illustrates this with the example of three friends encountering a large dog running toward them. One sees a playful pup and feels joy. Another feels cautious uncertainty. The third is terrified, believing danger is imminent. Same event, three completely different inner worlds.
This difference, Kieran explains, comes from our mind’s conditioning—our past experiences, beliefs, and emotional patterns. Some of these are helpful and empowering, others are painful and unresolved. The stronger our unprocessed pain or trauma, the more distorted our perception becomes.
So when it comes to grief or any emotional storm, it’s not just what has happened. It’s how we see it, what beliefs are triggered, and how much presence we can bring.
