IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE

We will remain open during the COVID lockdown as an essential health service. At this time we ask our patients with appointments to follow the these guidelines:

1. Wear a mask throughout their time in the clinic,
2. Check-in using the CBR app
3. Do not bring family members to an appointment (unless attending with a child for their appointment). If you need a support person please call and speak to us about your needs.
4. Do not attend if you have any cold or flu symptoms or have been asked to isolate as a close contact. Please call ahead and cancel your appointment if this applies to you.

We can provide video telehealth appointments for those who do not wish to visit the clinic at this time or for those who are in home isolation. Please call us to arrange a telehealth appointment.

Thank you for your cooperation!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL PATIENTS

From tomorrow it will be mandatory for all staff and patients at our clinic to wear face masks. ACT Health has confirmed to us that this requirement does include all health care settings. We ask that you come to your appointments with your own face masks on prior to entering the premises. We continue to ask all patients to sanitise their hands when entering the facility and please do not attend if you are unwell. Further, please do not attend the clinic if you are subject to a stay-to-home order from ACT Health. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

😷 Face masks to become mandatory in the ACT when out in the community, from midnight tonight.

There are no active cases in the ACT. However, the safety of our community is paramount, so we are bringing in this requirement as a proactive measure to support the strengthened travel restrictions that we have put in place.

This new requirement means, when people are indoors with people they don’t usually live or work with, or on public transport, they must wear a face mask.

For example, masks must be worn in:
⚬ supermarkets, shopping centres and retail,
⚬ hospitality venues including restaurants, cafes and other licenced venues,
⚬ other restricted business activities where there is close contact with the public, including hairdressers, beauty and tanning salons and gyms, and
⚬ high-risk settings, such as health and aged care facilities.

For hospitality venues, mask requirements will align with those currently in effect in regional NSW, meaning employees who have contact with patrons, must wear a mask at all times. Patrons are strongly encouraged to wear a mask while in the venue but can remove the face covering while eating and drinking.

You can find a full list of the business and community settings where masks must be worn here: https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/act-status-and-response/face-masks

People may remove their face masks in certain situations such as in emergencies or when eating and drinking. There are other exceptions for mask usage, which can be found here: https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/act-status-and-response/face-masks

Although the use of face masks will become mandatory from midnight tonight (Monday 28 June 2021), there will be a 48-hour transition period for businesses and the community to adapt to these new requirements.

In addition to wearing a face mask, the community is also reminded about all the other important actions they can take to be COVID safe.

First and foremost, stay home if unwell and get tested with any COVID-19 symptoms. When out in Canberra, make sure that you are using the Check In CBR app. In crowded spaces, keep your distance.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to all our patients for their well wishes and concern over the illness of our Principal Physiotherapist Dave Kennard. Dave has been off work for just over 2 weeks after undergoing major heart surgery. He is now at home recovering, happy to be out of hospital and back with his family. Our fabulous Gungahlin Physiotherapy staff have been working hard in Dave's absence which is greatly appreciated. Tyler has also been making some home visits to help out Dave's rehab which is going above and beyond - thanks Tyler! Currently Dave does not have a return to work date however his regular patients can book in with Tyler, Alana, Amelia or Sarah. We will update you on his progress over the coming weeks.

Our Online Pilates sessions have been a big hit and we are expanding to Friday morning with some classes specifically for people new to pilates who are looking to work on their strength and flexibility while at home. Call us on 62425050 if you are interested and for more details on class times.

Exciting news - we’ve moved our Pilates classes ONLINE so you can join Alana for a class from home via Zoom video conferencing.

We held our first 5 online classes yesterday and the feedback from patients was very positive. These classes are currently run on Thursday afternoons but we will be expanding to Friday morning as we grow numbers. If you’re working from home and are missing your usual exercise routine this is a great option to work on your strength and flexibility. Call us in 62425050 for more details or to book in.

We understand that some of our patients are isolating at home and are not able to come to the clinic for appointments - or are at home with kids home schooling making it difficult to make a time to be out of the house.

To help out we are now able to offer telehealth appointments via the Coviu platform which provides a secure video link between physio and patient.

These appointments will be useful if you need advice on a current or new condition, where our physiotherapists can advise on treatment options and prescribe exercises over a video call. These will be 20 minute appointments at a cost of $45 per appointment. If you are interested in making an appointment call us on 62425050. Both new and existing patients welcome (new patient sessions will be 30 minutes for a fee of $60).

Our physios are also developing some home online programs for strengthening and falls prevention - more on these soon but if you are interested you can register for more information by emailing us at gungahlin.physio@bigpond.com

It been a busy few days, a big thank you to all our patients who have worked with us this week and followed measures for hand washing prior to appointments. Also a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has dropped in paper towels which are so hard to source at the moment - our patients are amazing!

We’re also indebted to the fabulous SPAR Express Ngunnawal for providing us with the supplies we need to stay operating under these new arrangements - remember to support your local business in these challenging times. Dave has also been busy learning about all things COVID19 - any concerns or questions we are happy to take your calls or to chat at your next appointment.

It’s been a huge day of news and we know everyone is still working through what tonight’s governments announcements mean for them.

We can confirm that we are open tomorrow and for the foreseeable future. We have introduced a number of measures in the clinic to keep our staff and patients healthy which you will observe at your next appointment. We would ask that you practice good social distancing in the clinic, including limiting the number of persons who might accompany you to your appointment.

As always any concerns please give us a call, lets all be kind to each other and we can get through these difficult times as a community.
