Calvary Bruce Private Hospital is co-located within Calvary Public Hospital Bruce campus in Canberra, ACT, serving the communities of Canberra, Belconnen and the Gungahlin precinct. Calvary Bruce Private Hospital is a teaching facility affiliated with the Australian Catholic University, the Australian National University and the University of Canberra. Founded in 1885 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary is a charitable, not-for-profit, Catholic health care organisation. Our mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care to the most vulnerable, including those reaching the end of their life. With over 18,000 staff and volunteers, we have a national network of 14 Public and Private Hospitals, 72 Residential Care and Retirement Communities and 19 Community Care service centres. Refurbishment works are progressing at Calvary Rotary Cottage in Bruce.

Located at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital, the Cottage supports families travelling to Canberra to stay close to loved ones receiving care.

Trades are currently undertaking key upgrades, including electrical and air conditioning works, painting and bathroom improvements, with each stage moving the project closer to completion.

These improvements will help create a calm and welcoming environment where families can rest and unwind during what can be a challenging time.

This initiative is being led and coordinated by our Regional Community Engagement Manager, whose collaboration with local businesses and stakeholders has been central to progressing the project.

We acknowledge the contributions of local businesses including Modern Heating and Cooling, Enhanced Painting Services and Tile Rescue. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Belconnen and all the local businesses, volunteers and community participants who continue to support this project.

It’s all hands on deck at Rotary Cottage.

Located in Bruce, ACT, the Cottage provides accommodation for families needing to stay close to loved ones receiving treatment in hospitals across the ACT. Originally established with the support of the Rotary Club of Belconnen, it has supported families for decades and is now being prepared for its next chapter of care.

In it's 30th year, we are proudly reopening the doors after a temporary closure to enable a renovation funded and supported by Rotary, Calvary Health Care and other local partners and businesses.

A full site clean-up is underway, supported by Community Services Work Program participants, and their efforts are already making a real, visible impact while building skills and confidence.

For families going through a difficult time, having somewhere close and comfortable to stay can make all the difference. We’ll be sharing updates along the way as Rotary and community partners bring this important facility back to life.

⭐Meet Michael Wray! ⭐
Michael is our friendly Maintenance Officer here at Calvary Bruce, and he’s been keeping things running smoothly since March 2025. He loves the welcoming atmosphere and the great team of staff he works alongside every day.
You’ll often spot him walking around the premises completing jobs and having a chat with staff, patients, and visitors alike. If you’ve met Michael, you’ll know he’s always up for a chat!

It’s been an exciting day in our Theatre Department, and we couldn’t wait to share the joy!
🎂 Happy 70th Birthday to Suellen Saals!
Today we celebrated a very special milestone for our much‑loved colleague, Suellen. The Theatre team surprised her with cake, balloons, and beautiful flowers. A small gesture to honour someone who brings so much heart, experience, and positivity to the team every day.

Over the past several weeks, staff have been adding photos and collages of their pets to the Pet Wall in the staff room. It’s been a simple, fun way for the team to share a bit of their life outside work, and the wall is quickly filling with everything from sleepy cats to energetic dogs (and a few unexpected pets, too). Yesterday we celebrated our 2025 group of graduates at Calvary Bruce! The Learning & Development Team hosted a fun-filled event with plenty of laughter, a beautiful cake and delicious food from our amazing Catering Team, and handmade “Super Nurse” crowns crafted with love. 👑⭐

One of the many things that makes Calvary Bruce Private Hospital and Hyson Green Mental Health Facility so special is the beautiful environment we’re surrounded by.
You can take in the views of Black Mountain and Telstra Tower, or the Brindabella Range stretching across the horizon. Our campus is nestled in peaceful bushland with the Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve and its beautiful walking trails nearby.
Since moving into our state‑of‑the‑art building in 2017, these surroundings have been an important part of creating a restorative and welcoming place for care. 💙

On the morning of Tuesday 9th December, we were delighted to welcome the Haydon Aged Care Choir to Calvary Bruce Private Hospital. The choir filled our foyer with joy as they sang beautiful Christmas carols and other much-loved songs, creating a truly festive atmosphere.

It was wonderful to see patients, visitors and staff stopping in the foyer to watch, sing and clap along to the amazing performance. Moments like these remind us of the power of music to lift spirits and bring people together.

A big thank you to Haydon Aged Care for this lovely collaboration, and heartfelt thanks to all the staff, volunteers, and residents whose efforts made this special performance possible. We are so grateful for the joy you shared with our hospital community. 🎄⭐🎅
