Creativity. Metaphor. Parts of Self. Curiosity.
During the Soul Seeker Retreat, we used the metaphor of a tree shedding it’s leaves 🍂 as a way to identify the evolution of parts of self activated one day to the next. If a feeling no longer resonated, each person would be invited to drop the leaf 🍃 to the ground, or add more leaves to their branch. Throughout this process we’d see similar feelings shared across participants, and a movement of more surface level feelings to deeper ones. Every day changed and evolved.
These practices help us notice various ways our inner voice shows up. How that voice might identify with one part more than others. It helps us see the diversity of experiences we have from one moment, hour, one day to the next. It reminds us that we speak with many voices. Through identifying a feeling, we can then work more consciously with it, feel it in our body, check-in with its needs and perhaps notice it shift, take a different form, or fall away.
In some cultures, if someone is feeling unsettled, they’d be ushered to the river with a handful of pebbles. With each pebble they’d name their feeling, and then throw it in the river. Awareness, coupled with movement and nature. Healing in motion.
These are tools to help us loosen the grip of the mind, reconnect with the body and create space for a deeper wisdom to emerge.
