ARFID is a newly recognised eating disorder, which became an official diagnosis for adults and children in 2013. For 12-year-old Alex*, the diagnosis came as a relief after years bouncing around the medical system.

I received a lovely message from a client who recently graduated from speech today, this is why I love what I do!

I hope you and your family are well 😊

A brief email to let you know that XX participated in Rostrum this term at XX School. She did everything herself - we were essentially banned from any visibility on the topic, research, preparation etc etc.

She made it through as her class representative, then as the representative for the year 3 cohort. Today she delivered her speech (which we had never heard before) at the school final. xx said we weren't allowed to come and see it, so we hid behind the emergency exit doors and at least got to hear it haha.

We are incredibly proud of where she started from, to what she was able to do today. No doubt she will continue to grow in confidence from here.
