We're welcoming a new psychologist into the team! Harley de Vos is a registered psychologist and endorsed sport and exercise psychologist. He has several yearsβ experience working as a psychologist in a range of settings with a diverse range of clients and presentations, including private practice, hospital, university, and as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary allied health clinic. He also has extensive experience working in a variety of sport and performance environments, and has a keen interest in working with athletes, coaches, defence personnel, aviation and medical professionals, and clients in other high performing domains.
Harley works with adults and adolescents (16 years and above), and he is experienced in treating a range of mental health conditions, including: depression, anxiety, stress, sleeping issues, trauma, grief and loss, social anxiety, emotion and mood regulation, anger management, chronic pain, and interpersonal and relationship issues.
Harley uses a range of evidence-based interventions in his therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Mindfulness. His approach is person-centred and he firmly believes in the importance of building a strong, safe and effective therapeutic relationship with his clients through genuine warmth, compassion and understanding. Harley also uses principles of neuroscience to guide his treatment approach.
Harley is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and a member of the APS College of Sport and Exercise Psychology (CoSEP). In addition to his practice as a psychologist, Harley is currently undertaking a PhD at The University of Sydney and the Australian Institute of Sport that is focused on the relationship between mental health and sleep in elite athletes.
Harley is able to accept referrals and work with clients under Mental Health Care Plans through the Medicare Better Access Scheme, TAC, WorkCover, EPC, and DVA. He can also work with private paying clients and rebates can be claimed on his services with most private health insurers.
