Newcastle’s most loved fun run is nearly here. Hill to Harbour is all about atmosphere, movement and doing it together. And this year, we’re running with even greater purpose.

We’re running for Palestinian children who don’t have the freedom to run, play, and move safely. With the devastating rise in child amputations, our Co-Founder & Co-Director, Dr. Hassan Suradi, is running for the children who can’t. He is turning every kilometre into a message of solidarity, hope, and resilience.

Race day will feature:
• 12km Hill to Harbour point-to-point course
• 6km Halfa Hill to Harbour
• Hunter Valley Orthodontics 2K-4-FUN for kids and families

“I used to invite all my sons and daughters for iftar on the first day of Ramadan and turn it into a celebration.”

For so many Arab families, the first iftar of Ramadan is sacred. It is the moment everyone comes home. Mothers spend the day cooking favorite dishes, setting the table with care, and waiting for the house to fill with laughter. It is tradition, love, and belonging all at once.

Hania, 73, in Gaza, held that tradition close to her heart for decades. This year, her table is quieter. She has lost a son and a brother in the war. And yet, she still speaks about Ramadan with faith. She still holds on to hope.

January 29, 2024. Red Crescent volunteers receive an emergency call. A 5-year old girl is trapped in a car under fire in Gaza, pleading for rescue. While trying to keep her on the line, they do everything they can to get an ambulance to her. Her name was Hind Rajab.
