🌿 Welcome to the Team, Dr Emily Mattacola! 🌿
We are thrilled to welcome Emily, a UK-trained Psychologist, to the Capital Psychology Clinic team. She will be undertaking her transition (and beyond) with us to become a fully registered psychologist with AHPRA in Australia.
Emily brings a wealth of experience and passion to her work. She holds a PhD in Adolescent Health Psychology from the University of Northampton, and completed her undergraduate and master’s training at the University of Bath. Before joining us, Emily spent over a decade as a Senior Lecturer in UK universities and has published her research in world-leading journals.
Clinically, Emily has worked extensively in pain management and developed a strong interest in women’s health, child and adolescent development, and family-centred care. She is deeply committed to early intervention and supporting emotional well-being across life’s key stages.
Emily’s therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness, all grounded in evidence-based practice. She is passionate about helping women, mothers, children, and adolescents build resilience, nurture healthy attachment, and thrive within supportive environments.
Originally from the UK, Emily is a wife and mother to young children. When she’s not at Capital Psychology, she loves exploring Canberra’s vibrant coffee scene and chasing her little ones around the local park.
