Talk to your GP about prostate cancer

This Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, let's shine a light on the most common cancer in men in WA.

The prostate, a small gland below the bladder and only found in men, plays a vital role in reproductive health. But every year, more than 1,880 WA men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news? More than 90% survive at least five years after diagnosis.

Risk factors include getting older (it’s rare under 50) and having a close relative who was diagnosed young.

This month, talk to your GP about your risk and the symptoms to watch for. Early detection is key! Let’s look after ourselves and each other. 💙

Last weekend Dr Meshgin presented at a community forum together with Orla, (remember our social worker from a few years ago), on the topic of understanding addictions! Some 50 participants (in person and on line) joined in this session to better understand this topic. Our practice has been highlighting this topic over the last few weeks with resources available in the waiting area. Your GP can support you if you are trying to quit smoking, reduce alcohol or other substance use. Our team is here to help 🙏

Not all heart attacks begin with chest pain ⚠️

People with a heart attack may also experience pain or numbness in the arm, shoulder, neck, jaw or back; nausea and/or vomiting and feel sweaty/dizzy.

Some people experience a heart attack with mild or no symptoms at all.

Being proactive about your heart health means you can find out if you're at risk and reduce the likelihood of a heart attack occurring.

Book a Heart Health Check with your GP today and know your risk. 🩺❤️
