We are excited to announce that next school holidays we will be hosting our first ever Sports Day.
This is the perfect opportunity to come and try a variety of accessible sports, including wheelchair sports such as basketball or tennis, athletics or running using a race runner, customised bikes, or tricycles and more.
We will running one-on-one physio sessions during the event if you want to trial a specific item (and reserve it for your child’s appointment). Or you are welcome to pop in, look around and have a chat with the physios and equipment suppliers.
We will be hosting the event at the Nunawading Community Hub on the 10th of July, and cannot wait to see you all there. 🦽🏀🎾

Respiratory physiotherapy aims to promote the overall function of the respiratory system. This can be undertaken by trained physios through exercises, education and resources and different airway clearance methods to minimise the effort needed to regain optimal pulmonary function. Particularly for individuals with weak respiratory muscles, which can restrict their capacity to cough and release what is causing irritation in the lungs. Furthermore, respiratory muscles can fatigue as a result of an ineffective cough, and makes it challenging to expel the mucous.

Stepping Forward physios will once again be going to ATSA – Australia’s assistive technology expo.

What is assistive technology? Assistive Technology (or AT) is an umbrella term to describe equipment that assists a person in daily life. This can be things for mobility, such as wheelchairs, walking aids or strollers. It includes things for seating – such as highchairs, floor sitters or activity tables. It includes things for bathing or hygiene such as bath seats or toilet seats. It also includes recreational items such as supportive bikes or trikes, race runners, sports wheelchairs and more.

The expo is fantastic for our physios to see all of the new products now on offer in Australia. We aim to meet some of our families out there, if there is a need for new AT, and walk around together to look at options and test things out. If you can’t make it on the day, we can also use some time to research the options that may be suitable for your child and family, to help streamline the trial and assessment process.

Entry is free, and there are lots of things to see and do.

If you are not sure what things may be suitable for your child or worth considering, have a chat with your physio – they have lots of ideas about options for mobility, seating, recreation and more. It is a great time to mention any of those tricky moments – such as finding seating that offers enough support when out at a restaurant – we have options that might help!

If you will be joining us out there on the day, we look forward to seeing you and if you can’t make it, keep an eye out for photos and highlights from the event!

Today was Purple Day - raising awareness for epilepsy worldwide. The team showed their support in the clinic today by wearing purple. This year’s theme was ‘Stand Up To Seizures’. Epilepsy is estimated to impact 1 in 100 people worldwide. It is important to show that people who live with the condition are supported and increase awareness in the community. 💜

Our goal is to provide physiotherapy that is meaningful for your child and your family.

Our experienced team has spent many years working with babies and children, and look forward to helping your child.
