“Nipple feeding”is a snack… breastfeeding is a meal 🤱💜

A deep latch means baby takes more than just the ni**le — they need a big mouthful of breast tissue to get a good feed.

Babies who always take a long time to feed may not be latched well.

A good latch also reduces ni**le pain and makes feeding more comfortable.

As a midwife and lactation consultant, I’m proud to walk alongside families through some of their most powerful and vulnerable moments. Midwifery is more than a profession- it’s a commitment to nurturing, listening, advocating and empowering.

To my fellow midwives, thank you for the care you give, the strength you hold and the difference you make every single day.

Happy International Day of the Midwife! 💜

Breast inflammation isn’t always an infection 🤍

Pain, redness, and swelling during your breastfeeding journey can have many causes — and it’s not always something that needs antibiotics. These tips can help reduce inflammation, improve comfort, and keep your feeding journey on track.

If something doesn’t feel right, you don’t have to figure it out alone. IBCLC breastfeeding support can help you understand what’s happening and get to the root cause.

Offering homevisiting support across Lake Macquarie & Newcastle ✨

International Women’s Day 2026 ❤️

Sisterhood support isn’t just a beautiful idea.
It’s a public health strategy.

When a mother is surrounded by steady, informed, compassionate women - her outcomes change. Her confidence changes. Her story changes.

In my breastfeeding support work across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, I see this every week.
Not because mothers aren’t capable - because no one is meant to do early motherhood alone.

Maternal resilience doesn’t grow from pressure.
It grows from presence.
From skilled support
From women who say, ‘I’ve got you.’

When we invest in women - practically and emotionally - we strengthen babies, families and entire communities.

This is what sisterhood support looks like. It matters. Let’s celebrate it!

Today we celebrate the important role that IBCLC’s play in building confident parents.

Behind so many peaceful feeds are the moments that didn’t feel calm at all.

The sore ni**les.
The second guessing.
The 2am Googling.
The “am I doing this right?”

As an IBCLC, my work isn’t just about latch and milk transfer.
It’s about helping parents feel steady. Capable. Confident.

It’s about walking into homes across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie and creating space for reassurance, clarity, and practical solutions that actually work in real life.

Breastfeeding support isn’t about perfection.
It’s about building confidence - one feed at a time.

Thank you to the families who trust me to support them in their space.
To the partners who quietly lean in behind the scenes - you matter too.

If you’re looking for infant feeding support, home visits are available in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, and can be booked via

If only every baby opened their mouth like the babies in the breastfeeding videos…

In real like some babies look like they have tiny goldfish 🐠mouths, others are startled meerkats and some seem like they give you a half-hearted “meh” opening that makes latching feel like an Olympic sport.

💡A few tips for encouraging a wider mouth:
- Start with some skin to skin so your baby is ready to feed and begins to look for your breast.
- Begin with your ni**le toward your baby’s nose to encourage a wide gape.
- Support your baby in a way that allows them to tilt their head back not forward to support them to open wide.
- Aim for chin contact first
- Reset and start again if the gape is small.

Your not doing anything wrong - it’s just that learning to breastfeed takes time and practice.
Remember the mothers and babies in the videos have been where you are, and with patience and repetition builds breastfeeding confidence.

That moment when the latch finally works and you feel like you’ve conquered an entire mountain range 🙌⛰️

You’ve tried the angles, the pillows, the resets… and suddenly everything clicks.

✨No pain
✨More swallows
✨Baby not coming on and off the breast
✨The best feed ever
✨And you remembering, you are in-fact amazing!

It’s very rarely instant. It’s not always easy in the beginning. But it eventually comes together? Pure Victory

Cheering you on for every win - big and small.

This year isn’t about doing more.
It’s about settling in.
About soaking up the small moments - the weight of your baby in your arms, the quiet pauses, the way time feels different now.

May 2026 bring a little more confidence in yourself, a little less second-guessing, and a lot more trust that you’re doing enough.

Here’s to enjoying your baby, just as they are, while they are still a baby.

Happy New Year ✨
