~ Left Nostril Breathing ~

Chandrabhedana Pranayama is made up of two words, in which Chandra means the moon and the piercing means entering or breaking. We have two nostrils for breathing. In yoga, it is called Nadi, in which the right nostril is called Surya Nadi, and the left nostril is known as Chandra Nadi

Surya Bhedana or Surya Bhedi is a warming/energizing pranayama practiced in a seated meditation posture. Using Vishnu Mudra (hand gesture), you block the left nostril, inhale through the right, retain the breath for as long as you can, and block the right nostril to exhale through the left nostril

I have been practising Ashtanga yoga for a while now. Not sure exactly when but it has always been a led 1-hour class. Because of that, the teacher always chose and picked the postures and sometimes skipped a range of postures, so I never knew what the real full Ashtanga primary series is.

One day, when I was in Rishikesh - India, for a yoga competition, I stumbled into a yoga studio which happened to be outside of the hotel that I stayed.
In front of the studio, it says 'Daily Ashtanga yoga primary series'. I was drawn into it and joined the class.

That day, there was only me and another student who came the day before and it was his second Ashtanga class ever. The teacher led full primary series without missing any posture that day and I felt so amazing and satisfied ! That was my first time ever doing a full Ashtanga primary series.

Since then I have been practising full primary series without skipping any poses and challenged myself into a yoga retreat with Laruga where I polished the primary series and as well as the intermediate series.

Doesn't matter how many people show up to my class, you could be the only one, but as long as you show up, the class is ON and I will guide you. The willingness to come should come from within.
