Let's hope it passes.

FINALLY…..After almost 30 years it looks like Northern Territorians will once again have voluntary assisted dying laws. And the Federal Government no longer has the power to overturn them. This will be the righting of an historical wrong and will give residents of the NT access to the same compassionate end of life choice as other Australians.

A great result for our aged care residents.🫶

Today the NSW upper house voted to protect our hard-fought voluntary assisted dying laws from a private members’ bill that would have limited people’s access to voluntary assisted dying based on where they live.

Thank you to the over 4,000 people who spoke out against this bill in recent weeks and to the excellent advocates for older people and representatives of health workers I had the pleasure of collaborating with.

Dying to Know Day is an Australian initiative held annually on 8 August. It began as a day of action to encourage open and honest conversations about death and dying, and end-of-life planning. It has now become a year-round campaign.
