Our Story

Located in the heart of Carlton North, Rathdowne Yoga Room has been bringing Iyengar yoga to the community since 1987.

With over 25 years of yoga teaching experience and as director of Rathdowne Yoga Room since 1997, Frank Alberti’s pragmatic approach to Iyengar yoga is accessible and down-to-earth. Class sizes are small and friendly, ensuring individual attention is provided, and asanas (poses) are taught with the aid of props and equipment to ensure students practise safely and within their own range of ability.

Iyengar style yoga emphasises balanced body alignment, strength and flexibility, leading to improved stamina and concentration. The Iyengar approach allows people of all ages, levels of health and fitness to enjoy the benefits of yoga practice, including the ability to face the physical, mental and emotional challenges of contemporary life with strength, vitality, mobility, thoughtfulness and equanimity. Current students range in age from 20 to 84 years old!
