We have officially entered a new Season - SPRING 🌼. Though Spring is often associated with new growth and renewal - Spring isn’t always a happy time. The season of Spring is connected with the LIVER & GALLBLADDER via the WOOD 🪵 ELEMENT. The emotions connected to the Liver & Gallbladder are Anger 😡 Irritation & Frustration. Clinically we also see a lot of LOW MOOD & DEPRESSION. An unbalanced Wood Element or sluggish Liver Organ which is primarily responsible for the Smooth Flow of Qi & Emotions can manifest in feelings of Low Mood & Energy, Guilt & Self Shame. Support your Liver by ✨ Moving Qi via exercise 🏃‍♀️ - a brisk or slow walk or run is a great way to encourage Qi movement. Stretching, Yoga 🧘‍♀️ or Pilates are other great activities. ✨ Eat lots of Green🥬 Leafy Vegetables ➡️ The colour green is associated with the Liver & the softness of the leafy greens allows and elicits “softness” within an individual. ✨ Drink Dandelion or Milk Thistle Tea 🫖 2 herbs 🌿 which support Liver Function. ✨ Journaling 📔 and literally getting your “crappy feelings” off your Liver helps. ✨ Decreasing Alcohol 🍷 and Coffee ☕️ intake which both impact Liver Health. ✨ 5-10 minutes of Deep Breathing 😮‍💨- Breathing in for 5 seconds, hold for 2 and breathe out for 5 seconds greatly encourages Qi movement. ✨And lastly and importantly get regular ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENTS - ACUPUNCTURISTS gets emotions 🙌🏻

The SPLEEN holds very important functions according to Chinese Medicine Philosophy. 1. Alongside the Stomach, the Spleen holds an important role in Digestive & GUT Function. The food 🍱 & drinks 🥤 that we ingest get transformed and transported by the Spleen i.e when we eat/drink the spleen warms up the food/drink, breaks it down, extracts the nutrients, refines the useless from the useful assisting in Blood and Qi production.
2. The Spleen controls the Blood 🩸 by holding a role in keeping blood in the vessels. If Spleen Qi is healthy, blood circulation will be great, if weak blood will spill out of the vessels and lead to haemorrhages. 3. The Spleen extracts Food Qi from ingested food hence nourishes all the tissues within the body. If Spleen Qi is weak, an individual will feel weary, muscles will feel weak and in severe cases atrophy may occur. 4. When Spleen Qi is healthy, your sense of taste 👅 is good & your lips 💋 moist & rosy. If Spleen Qi is weak - there will be impaired taste, lack of appetite & Lips will appear pale & dry. 5. The Spleen holds an important role in “lifting” holding internal organs in their place. If weak prolapses of the uterus, stomach, kidney, bladder etc may occur. 6. The Spleen is said to be the “residence” of the thought 💭 meaning that the Spleen influences our capacity to think, study, concentrate, focus and memorise. If healthy your thoughts will be clear & concentration optimal if weak thinking will be dull and memory poor.

Physical Stagnation which is evident in the photos can very often manifest in mental and emotional stagnation...In Chinese Medicine our Philosophy is that everything is interconnected. When patients are presenting with headaches/migraines, a sore upper back, shoulders and mental fatigue I always do GUASHA as my first first in my treatment protocol to clear the stagnation and create movement. The clearance here was amazing 🙌🏻⭐️✨

Experiencing Digestive Issues Post Festive & Holiday Season? Here are some DIGESTIVE TIPS ACCORDING TO CHINESE MEDICINE. 1. Start the day with a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon 🍋 peel to stimulate bowel movements & stimulate stomach acid function. 2. Increase your intake of warm cooked foods such as roasted vegetables 🥔🍠🫑 Soups 🥣 stews and slow cooked meals🥘 to nourish and support Stomach & Spleen Function - Our 2 organs of digestion. 3. Stay away from smoothies, juices 🥤 Icey drinks 🧊🧋 as they slow down digestive function. 4. Sip on Ginger 🫚 Tea 🫖 throughout the day 5. Place a heat pack across the abdomen and follow with a gentle abdominal massage to support GUT motility. 6. Reduce your intake of sugar and processed foods as they slow down Spleen Digestive Function of Transforming & Transporting Food within the Gut. 7. Increase these spleen supportive foods in your diet - sweet potato 🍠 pumpkin 🎃 porridge 🥣 apricot, barley, carrots 🥕 parsnips, millet, bone broth & leafy 🥬 greens
