E-Vam Institute is fortunate to have Do Tulku Rinpoche return to guide us in studying the quintessential Mahayana text - The Way of the Bodhisattva!

☸️The Way of the Bodhisattva (The Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra) by Shantideva is known as the path of the awakened beings, it is synonymous with the Mahayana or Great Vehicle.

In Mahayana Buddhism, the vision of the Bodhisattva inspires us to realise our own potential. Presented as a personal meditation, the text by Shantideva focuses on cultivating a mind that is happy and content: a mind that finds fulfilment in the act of wishing to benefit others.

☸️This year, Do Tulku Rinpoche will continue to guide us through the topic "Vigilant Introspection", from The Way Of The Bodhisattva.

The chapter discusses the importance of “mindfulness and vigilance” in the practice of a bodhisattva, emphasizing the need to be vigilantly aware of one's thoughts, actions, and motivations. With themes that delve into the concept of mindfulness as a means to:
- overcome distractions,
- maintain moral sensitivity in relation to self and others,
- and cultivate wisdom on the path to enlightenment.

✨Monthly Urban One-Day Retreat - Every Last Saturday Of The Month! In-person at E-Vam Institute, 9:30am - 5pm

Offering a warm and inviting environment, E-Vam Institute welcomes people under 35 with the unique opportunity to join us to learn from key meditation practices and delve deeply into understanding key concepts of Buddhist philosophy.

Rather than only being about meditation or philosophy the Urban Retreat encourages an integrated approach to spirituality through practicing what we know as The Three Trainings of Buddhist Practice.

1. Meditation – through the practice of meditation, our mind becomes more focused, more resilient and more aware.
2. Wisdom – through having a stable and focused mind, we develop wisdom.
3. Moral sensitivity – through the practice of moral sensitivity we become better individuals, able to overcome our egocentric tendencies. We become both more compassionate and sensitive to the needs of others.

The following practices are included in the urban retreat:
☯️Tibetan yoga and pranayama
☸️The Four Preliminary Practices
🧘🏽‍♀️Shamatha/Tranquillity (mindfulness) meditation
📖Through listening to the Dharma
☸️The Four Immeasurables Practices

E-Vam's Easter Retreat 2025

Going on retreat has been part of Buddhism since the Buddha’s time. In the Kagyu tradition, known as the practice lineage, retreat is cherished as a time to be in a spiritually focused and supportive environment for an extended period of time. Whether new to Buddhism or an experienced practitioner, retreat is an essential component of the Path.

Situated at the beautiful Maitripa Centre (10 min from Healesville), the retreat provides a tranquil and focused environment to deepen one's practice (or you can join the retreat online!)

At E-Vam Institute, we uphold the retreat format as provided by Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche IX (see Rinpoche's bio at E-Vam's website).

This includes:

Last week, E-Vam Institute had the great pleasure of hosting the wonderful Do Tulku Rinpoche.

On behalf of all our volunteers and participants, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Do Tulku Rinpoche for Rinpoche’s profound wisdom and generosity.

Rinpoche gave teachings on The Three Yanas of Tibetan Buddhism, led us in a auspicious Riwo Sangchö (Mountain Smoke Offering Puja), and graciously bestowed the Bodhisattva Vows.

Thank you Do Tulku Rinpoche for these precious teachings and the inspiration they bring to our understanding and practice. 🙏✨
