Helping our child to problem solve builds Self-Efficacy

We can help our children solve their difficulties in a way that builds their self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is the belief we have in our own abilities, specifically our ability to meet the challenges ahead of us and complete a task successfully.

It is natural to want this to go away as quickly as possible for our children, however we run the risk of developing learned helplessness if we take over and tell children how to fix their problems.
