Yesterday we celebrated a special milestone as Arcare Croydon officially opened its doors. Our first residents, John and Joan, had the honour of cutting the ribbon, while Greg has already been busy getting to know our wonderful nursing team.

Arcare Croydon is our 57th residence nationally, located next to Cherry Tree Grove Retirement Village. With 91 suites spread across two levels and premium amenities including a cinema, and café, this new community has been thoughtfully designed to enjoy the beautiful vistas. When new resident Helen walked into Rita’s room at Arcare, she never expected to be reunited with her primary school friend from 1945. 💜

After realising Rita was the same “Rita Gunn” she knew from The Sacred Heart Primary School, the two embraced with excitement, rekindling a friendship that began over 75 years ago.

Their story is a heartwarming reminder of the connections, joy, and surprises that can blossom in aged care. 🌸

And when asked what advice she’d give to others moving into aged care, Rita shared: “Introduce yourself to the other residents, go to activities and meet new people. Just do and be yourself - it is easy to make new friends and keep active.”

Today, we’re excited to introduce Peter from Arcare Carnegie, a man with an extraordinary life story! Peter’s journey started in the police force, where he was responsible for looking after VIPs—including royalty and heads of state—visiting Victoria on behalf of the state government. 👑

After his business grew, he left the force to focus on new ventures, including becoming a councillor for the City of Springvale, where he was elected Mayor in 1984. Peter also served as Deputy Chairman of the Melbourne Metropolitan Water Works in the Southern Region for 8 years.

One of his greatest achievements? Receiving the prestigious Order of Australia for over 40 years of community service. “It’s been one heck of a journey!” Peter shared.

We are so proud to have him as part of our Arcare community! 💜🌟

Arcare Carnegie and Arcare Caulfield partnered with Pure foods for a picnic on Albert Park Lake recently. 🍍🍓

The sun was shining, and it was a perfect day for some outdoor seated yoga led by the Australian Yoga Academy. 🧘‍♀️

Carnegie and Caulfield were lucky enough to be some of the first to trial The Pure Food Co's new Fruit smoothies, and they loved them! 🍇🍉
