A CALL FOR ACTION: South Sudanese Community March to the Victorian Parliament House/Parliament of Victoria
On Monday, 15th September 2025, the South Sudanese community will gather in unity and grief to march to the steps of the Victorian Parliament House. This demonstration is not just a protest—it is a powerful call for justice, safety, and dignity.
The march follows the devastating deaths of Chol Achiek (12) and Dau Akueng (15), two young boys whose lives were tragically cut short in a brutal attack in Cobblebank. Their deaths are not isolated incidents—they are part of a painful and ongoing pattern of violence, neglect, and systemic failure that has claimed too many young South Sudanese lives in Victoria.
This demonstration is a moment for the community to say: Enough is enough.
We march:
To honour the lives of Chol, Dau, and all the young people we have lost.
To demand urgent action from the government and institutions to protect our youth.
To call for culturally responsive mental health services, youth engagement programs, and an end to racialised violence and neglect.
To stand in solidarity with families who are grieving, afraid, and calling for change.
We invite all Victorians—community members, allies, advocates, and leaders to join us in this peaceful and powerful demonstration.
Your presence is a testament to your support for a community in mourning and a commitment to building a safer, more inclusive Victoria for all.
