Tennis elbow rehab isn’t one-size-fits-all...

Marge is showing us a guide for different rehab phases for tennis elbow (lateral elbow pain)—where you start depends on your pain levels and how reactive the tendon is.

Acute: painful, irritated → calm it (isometrics)
Subacute: settling → introduce load (eccentrics)
Chronic: more stable → build strength (full range)
Progression: low pain → return to normal strength + function

You don’t have to start at phase 1—meet your body where it’s at.

Quick guide to the steps:

Isometric holds – 30-sec x 3
Eccentrics – 3-sec lower, 8–12 reps
Concentric (3-sec) + eccentric (3-sec) – light weight, 10–12 reps
Wrist extension – 10–15 reps x 3

We used ~1kg in this video
Recommended: ~1–3kg depending on your strength, pain and irritation levels

Key with tendons (like tennis elbow):
Start light
Load gradually
Stay consistent

It’s about loading the tendon without flaring it up. Rest alone usually doesn’t fix it long-term—tendons need the right amount of load to adapt and heal.

These are general guidelines only—your injury, history, and lifestyle all matter. If pain persists, we recommend seeing a physio for a personalised rehab plan to get the best results and avoid setbacks.

Marge & Paige here to show you a smarter way to release tension — especially when it comes to that referral pain down the outside of the leg👇

That “ITB pain” you’re feeling down the side of your leg?
It’s usually not the ITB itself… it’s coming from the hip — think TFL + glutes.

Instead of aggressively rolling the whole IT band (ouch 😅), try this:
✨ Focus on the real trouble spots — TFL + glutes
✨ Work in small, targeted sections
✨ Stay near attachments (hip or knee if needed)
✨ Breathe, soften and let the tissue release

In some cases (like lateral knee pain or runner’s knee), the ITB + TFL combo might both need some love — but still, less is more.

No need to punish your body to get results.

Stress is one of the biggest hidden causes of pain, tension and slow recovery.

Not just physical stress, but mental load, constant busyness, pressure, poor sleep, never switching off.

When stress stays high, your body stays in fight or flight mode, focusing on survival instead of healing.

I see so many busy people in clinic (including myself), juggling work, training, family and daily responsibilities. But just because life is busy doesn’t mean chronic stress should be normal.

That’s why making time to actively calm your nervous system needs to be part of your day to day.

This could look like meditation, conscious breathing, switching off from your phone, taking pauses, or moments of reflection and awareness. These small habits help your body recover, regulate and respond better to movement and lifestyle changes.

Mental wellbeing supports movement, recovery and healthy habits - it doesn’t replace them. When paired with sleep, nutrition, mobility and strength work, the body becomes stronger, more resilient and pain-free for longer.

It’s time to prioritise your health (mind & body), for you, your family and the life you show up for.
