We would like to welcome Renee Taverna, our new Work Readiness Team Leader on the Gold Coast.

Renee has a strong background in supporting students with learning difficulties and a passion for helping people to build new skills and develop confidence in themselves.

Some of our current participants will know Renee from Arcadia College, where she supported neurodiverse young people to reach their goals.

Renee is passionate about helping people and loves to bring laughter to learning. In her words, “I try to find the humour in everything, because a little laughter goes a long way."

Having grown up in the beautiful seaside town of Yamba in NSW, Renee moved to the Gold Coast a couple of years ago with her husband, three kids, dog and two cats!

Later this month and into October, we've created a series of fantastic opportunities to explore a range of industries, meet employers, and learn about the skills needed to succeed on the job. Each day we’ll head to a different business for a behind-the-scenes experience, including:

📢 We have some exciting news to share... The Johnny H Work Readiness program is coming to Canberra!

Johnny H Work Readiness – sometimes known as School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) – prepares those who have left school to build the skills and confidence needed to transition into employment.

➡️ Johnny H Work Readiness Canberra will start in Term 1 of 2026, running over 11 weeks from January to March.

➡️ Work Readiness involves a blend of classroom-based and real world learning, including workplace visits and work experience.

➡️ Attend three days per week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 9am until 3.30pm. Lunch is provided for a small fee.

➡️ The Work Readiness program can be accessed using SLES, Capacity Building or Core funding.

Our Story

Johnny H Adventures is offered by Pure Traveller — a family-owned and operated business, based primarily in Australia and supporting a global team in the US and New Zealand.

Our team members have been travelling for more than 40 years and have more than 30 years’ experience working with people with disabilities.

Johnny H Adventures is dedicated to mild to moderately disabled travellers. As such, our tours are designed to closely resemble the experiences of mainstream travellers, with support that is specific to the needs of our participants.

The program offers a wide variety of social activities, day excursions, and short trips across Australian regions and cities, as well as international tours taking in New Zealand, Asia, Dubai, Europe, Hawaii and the USA.
