Later this month and into October, we've created a series of fantastic opportunities to explore a range of industries, meet employers, and learn about the skills needed to succeed on the job. Each day we’ll head to a different business for a behind-the-scenes experience, including:

Participants will gain insights into industry pathways, workplace safety, training opportunities, stock control, and how to apply for vacancies. It’s a fantastic way to build confidence and discover what working life is really like.
📢 We have some exciting news to share... The Johnny H Work Readiness program is coming to Canberra!
Johnny H Work Readiness – sometimes known as School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) – prepares those who have left school to build the skills and confidence needed to transition into employment.
➡️ Johnny H Work Readiness Canberra will start in Term 1 of 2026, running over 11 weeks from January to March.
➡️ Work Readiness involves a blend of classroom-based and real world learning, including workplace visits and work experience.
➡️ Attend three days per week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 9am until 3.30pm. Lunch is provided for a small fee.
➡️ The Work Readiness program can be accessed using SLES, Capacity Building or Core funding.

Our upcoming Lads Independent Living Experience is all about building confidence, learning essential life skills, and having a good time doing it.
Over three days, you'll get hands-on practice with things like cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and personal organisation, plus plenty of laughs and time with mates.
It’s a supportive, real-world experience that helps you feel more capable and ready for the future.

Meet Daniel and Trey, two of our amazing Work Readiness participants on the Gold Coast. We’re proud to be part of their journey as they build new skills, visit workplaces, take on work experience, and secure employment. 🙌
Last weekend we had participants from our Canberra region join those in the Nepean for a Lads Independent Living Experience (ILE). Staying together for the weekend, the guys managed household duties, shopped for their groceries, played games and enjoyed an outing to Glow with our Penrith group. It was awesome to see the social interaction and personal growth across the two days, with new friendships formed for future cross-regional adventures together.
Today we celebrate all the incredible mother figures who help shape our lives with love, strength and care.
To the mums, step-mums, grandmothers, aunties, carers, big sisters, and support workers — thank you for all that you do. 💛
We also hold space for those who find this day difficult — whether your mum is no longer with you, your relationship is complicated, or you’re missing someone special today.
