Sue Macdonald BAppSc(Comp)/BBus(Acc)
Sue has assisted families, nominees and participants as a Support Coordinator since April 2018. This includes a range of tasks including pre-planning and assistance with and attendance at Review Meetings. Sue has assisted participants from age 7 to age 65 with variety of disabilities, such as psychosocial disability, acquired brain injury, autism, and ADHD. Sue
has a keen interest in assisting families with family members on the spectrum, intellectual disability and ADHD, sensory issues, behavior and communication issues. Since 2003, Sue has had experience in traversing the systems of allied health, disability support, mainstream and special needs education, and applying various therapy strategies utilizing the principles of Applied Behavioral (ABA) Therapy. Sue possesses a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computing and a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Monash University. Her career commenced in the corporate sector, so she has communication, reporting, analytical, problem solving, project development and teamwork skills. She has trained as an ABA Therapist working on her son’s home and school-based programs and worked in the mainstream school environment. Sue has completed various professional development courses and webinars to stay up to date with Support Coordination and the constantly changing NDIS sector and Price Guide. She has worked with participants of varying complexity and liaised with different mainstream systems and stakeholders. Sue has lived experience through being a parent, primary carer and legal guardian for her own special needs adult son. Sue self-directs and is nominee for his NDIS plans including assistance with Robust SDA approval. As such, she has a good understanding of the NDIS and processes from both a Participant and a Provider perspective. Sue provides an empathic approach based on understanding how relentless and overwhelming life can be for families with a complex special needs child or adult.
