Is Your Child Struggling to Keep Up? Early ADHD Identification Can Make All the Difference. 🌟

As parents, it’s heartbreaking to see your child struggle—whether it’s with schoolwork, making friends, or feeling “different.” ADHD may be the reason, and early identification is key to helping neuro-diverse children thrive.

🔑 Here’s how early ADHD support helps:
✅Better academic outcomes: Tailored strategies like extra time, seating arrangements, and checklists make learning easier.
✅Improved social skills: Learning impulse control and emotional regulation helps kids build stronger friendships.
✅Fewer behavioural problems: Early intervention prevents frustration and defiance, keeping school experiences positive.
✅Boosted self-esteem: With the right support, your child’s confidence and love for learning can grow.
✅Long-term benefits: Early treatment leads to fewer mental health struggles and better outcomes throughout life.
💬 If you’ve noticed your child facing challenges, it’s not too late to help them thrive. Early intervention doesn’t just change school days—it changes lives.

We have been pretty busy answering inquiries from parents considering sending their children to Kindergarten early. Have a read of the article we recently wrote about School Readiness and some of the things to consider. For those who have already made the decision but need supporting assessment, we are here to help.

It is that time of the year when I start receiving calls from parents considering starting their child early to Kindergarten or holding them back. Many parents often ask: “How can I tell when my child is ready for school? At what age is the best time for him or her to be ready for the classroom?”

All the research that has tried to answer these questions points to the same conclusion -child maturation varies from child to child. Some children were found to be ready at age four. Others, on the other hand, were not ready until age six, seven or later. One thing for sure is that forcing a child to begin school too early was found to lead to frustration, resistance to further formal learning, early school failure, and disciplinary problems.

A paper into School Readiness by the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth has quoted, “The experiences of early childhood have lifelong implications for our health, well-being, and development, including our ability to become productive, socially adjusted contributors to society. Though these experiences do not determine how children ultimately develop, they do set them on trajectories that, over time, become increasingly difficult to modify” For those who do not have an extra two hours of reading the 24-page study, I have outlined their findings below. For those who suffer from insomnia, feel free to email me, and I will be more than happy to email you a copy of the paper.

Summary of Findings:

The cost of making the wrong decision – sending your not-ready child to Kindergarten:
📒 Children who are not yet ready tend to do less well in school,
😟They are more likely to experience anxiety and depression when they reach Primary and/or High School
🏫They are less likely to continue to Grades 11 and 12
🧑‍🏭They tend to have lower educational levels on leaving school and are more likely to have poor employment records in adulthood.

Thinking that you can always repeat them is not the answer either. We want the first year of school to be exciting, successful and not just one where the child attempts to ‘cope’ and then has to do it all again. Repeating a child at a later stage has been found to have negative outcomes for the child in terms of their confidence and social skills.

Sad to see that this post got over 200K likes. While you won't see many people laughing at a child who is wheelchair-bound trying to get from A - to - B, there seems to lack of understanding about learning disabilities. Like most learning disabilities, mathematical learning disorders such as Dyscalculia often have hidden costs. While it may be frustrating for parents and educators, videos such as these perpetuate the embarrassment and frustration that these kids feel - not just in the classroom but lifelong.

This learning disorder, characterised by difficulties in reading, has sparked passionate debates on its origins, interventions, and even its existence. Amidst this cacophony of voices, one critical question looms: “When can we identify dyslexia in children?”

Our Story

Some people are lucky to know what they wanted to do from a young age and I guess I was one of those people. From 15 years old, I started to work with children with disabilities, providing respite to parents and some normality to the children. I continued to work in a variety of setting throughout my six year studies, both abroad and in Australia and upon my graduation decided to work in a clinical setting.

With offices in Castle Hills, Leumeah and Kingsgrove, I quite often asked by busy parents to travel to either their home or child’s school/kindergarten. I strongly believe in a interdisciplinary approach in assisting children and thus work closely with other professionals. Give us a call if you are concerned about your child’s development or would like some advice.
