I'm excited to announce that I am part of a fabulous project providing Community Acupuncture in Castlemaine.
We launch Thursday 11th December 2025, and will begin regular sessions from Thursday 5th February 2026.

We'll be operating out of Castlemaine Community House, 30 Templeton St, Castlemaine.

Irene Perkoulidis is a local acupuncturist passionate about weaving the time-honoured principles of Chinese Medicine into everyday healthcare, helping people restore balance and deepen their connection with their bodies. She offers an open-minded, non-judgmental space for clients of all ages and backgrounds.

Being a part of creating a community acupuncture clinic reflects Irene’s vision to make holistic, affordable healthcare accessible to everyone. She believes in healing as a collaborative process—one nurtured by connection, warmth, and inclusivity. Irene hopes the clinic will become a welcoming anchor for Castlemaine and surrounding communities: a bubbling space of care, conversation, and collective wellbeing.

For those of you that might be new to my page, my name is Irene Perkoulidis, and I have been a degree-qualified and registered practitioner for over 10 years.

I’m passionate about helping you achieve your health and wellness goals through holistic approaches. I enjoy treating a variety of conditions, including pregnancy-related issues, IVF, autoimmune conditions, and overall well-being.

SILK TREE IS MOVING TO CASTLEMAINE

This move has been coming for a while - and amongst the many things delayed by the 2020-2022 lockdowns, this was one of them.

Now with a baby in tow, we have finally sold our home in Reservoir and are packing up and moving to the country.

Since it's happened there have been many mixed emotions, and it's really sunk in how much I am going to miss Reservoir, the clinic space, and all of you. I've loved living, working here and being a part of the community of Reservoir - it really is a special place to live. Not helped this last week by the stunning Spring weather, and birds chirping at Edgars Creek.

My last day will be next Wednesday 4th October in Reservoir, and I will be starting in Castlemaine shortly after - keep your eyes peeled at Iyashi Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

Of course if you know anyone up that way, please pass on the good word - my clinic is built from community and goodness.

I’m back Reservoir 🤗

Irene here. As many of you know, I’ve been on maternity leave since June 2022.

My partner and I have spent the last 6 months getting to know our beautiful and happy boy.

I have loved my start to motherhood, even with the broken sleep and my new appendage in the form of a small wriggly human. I am looking forward to bringing this new level of understanding and experience to my practice.

So I'm excited now to announce that I’m returning to Reservoir at the Jade Dragon Chinese Medicine clinic and can get back to doing the work that I love, alongside Dr. Michelle Oliver.

This includes working with fatigue, auto-immune disorders, mood imbalances, fertility issues, pregnancy, womens' health, and anything else you might need to discuss.

I’ll be starting my return to clinic life on Wednesday, March 1st from 2pm-7pm, and plan to add another day in the near future.

S***m Health is finally getting some attention, but it is still massively under represented when it comes to fertility issues in clinic. Fertility is actually 50/50 when it comes to health of the embryo.

The female partner will come in with "no known medical issues" after trying to conceive for 2+ years, but no sign of the male partner... even their s***m result of 4% morphology is considered normal.

To give baby making a true chance, we must see and treat both partners.

Tracking the decline of s***m morphology💁🏻‍♂️

Did you know the current western medicine reference range for acceptable morphology (size and shape of s***m in a semen sample) is 4%😳

This means that of any 100 s***m if 4 are good that is considered an ok result🤦🏻‍♂️

This number has dropped alarmingly in the last 40 years😬

Let’s look at some of the changes in the acceptable morphology figures from World Health Organisation in that time👇

1980 - looking for 80%
1987 - looking for 50%
1992 - looking for 20%
1999 - looking for 14%
2010 - looking for 4%

This is why I want to see any test results that you or your parter may have had👈

Sadly it’s quite common for couples to be told their s***m test results are “perfect” and whilst they certainly fall within reference ranges, there is a lot that can be done to bring them to an optimal level👈

When I am supporting a couple the journey to parenthood I would ideally like to see s***m morphology tests results of 15%-50%. These improved numbers are of course going to give you the best chance of success🙌

In my work with fertility support it is rare for me to see the males initially, it’s generally the female that comes along seeking support. Sometimes this is time and money misdirected because in many cases the male partner is and his s***m health is actually what will benefit most from treatment at this early stage of the journey. It’s great to see both of you initially so we can get a clear overview of where the support is most required👍
