The Song On The Boat
We nearly drowned.
It was one of those reckless summer days, Al Green playing on the radio as we borrowed a friend’s little boat and pushed off without even checking the bung was in the bottom. By the time we noticed, water was pouring in.

He tipped his glass as the boat lurched — red wine across his shirt, both of us trying to stay upright, trying to stay afloat. And still… laughing like idiots, drenched and alive. The kind of laughter that lives in your bones forever.

I was a young psychic medium sitting in the BBC studios waiting to start my first radio show.

It’s the most famous radio station on Earth and I was so scared I could hardly breathe.

My head was spinning and all kinds of unsettling thoughts kept passing through my mind.

The enormous boom mic stared at me - daring me to say something stupid!

I was going to be advising people about their spiritual lives and counselling them on their problems.

I thought , “How can I do this?. I’m a young woman with a bag of my own problems. How can I be advising people on solving theirs?”

Then we went live - the first caller asked me…”I’m not sure if my boyfriend really loves me…what can I do?”

Suddenly, it was like a bright light switched on in my brain and my head stopped spinning!

I took a deep breath and said,

“I know there is a clear answer for you on this. Let’s connect with spirit and find it”

And it all started from there…

Many years and thousands of calls later and it’s still one of the most common questions I am asked.

These are the most important questions of our lives.
