Turmeric Tea or Golden Milk is a great way to get the benefits of Turmeric daily. It also aids relaxation and helps boost the immune system. You may choose to heat it, or alternatively during summer have it cold. I often make two serves worth in one go and keep the remainder in the fridge for the following day. Enjoy yogis! See recipe bellow:

2 cups of milk of choice, I use almond but cashew, pecan, coconut and dairy all work in this recipe.
1.5 teaspoon Turmeric, which can be grated fresh or powdered.
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon raw honey, rice or maple syrup or to taste (optional)
1 small pinch of black pepper (increases absorption)
1 tiny piece of fresh, peeled ginger root or ¼ tsp ginger powder to finish. 👌🏼

'Yoga does not remove us from the reality or responsibilities of everyday life but rather places our feet firmly and resolutely in the practical ground of experience. We don’t transcend our lives; we return to the life we left behind in the hopes of something better.'

The mountains are my bones,

the rivers my veins

the forests are my thoughts

and the stars are my dreams

the ocean is my heart

its pounding is my pulse

the songs of the earth write

the music of my soul.

TRIGGER POINTS: When Trigger Points (TPs) are present, on the microscopic level, part of the muscle fibre is contracted into a small thickened area & the rest of the fibre is stretched thin.
Several of these muscle fibre contractures in the same area are what we feel as a "knot" in the muscle.
These continuously contracted knots in the muscle fibres stop blood flow at the TP, starving tissue of oxygen & nutrients.
This causes metabolic waste & toxins to build up in the area causing pain, tension & spasm in the muscle!! TPs are known to cause or contribute to/ but not limited to:
• Headaches
• Neck and jaw pain
• Low back pain
• Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome
• Tennis elbow
• Sciatica

The referred pain caused by TPs is usually steady, dull and aching, often deep. It may occur at rest, or only on movement. It varies from being a low-grade discomfort to being severe and debilitating.

Trigger Point Therapy utilising self Massage/Myofascial Release techniques using
yoga therapy balls is super effective in treating these pesky KNOTS. So get rolling yogis and reduce tension residing in the body.

➰ m e d i t a t i o n
"In meditation, you are moving closer and closer to yourself, and you begin to understand yourself so much more clearly. You begin to see clearly without a conceptual analysis, because with regular practice, you see what you do over and over and over and over again. You see that you replay the same tapes over and over and over in your mind. The name of the partner might be different, the employer might be different, but the themes are somewhat repetitious. Meditation helps us to clearly see ourselves and the habitual patterns that limit our life."

“Consider your will and your body as two dancers, moving in total unison. Too many beginning and even experienced yoga students make their yoga into a wrestling match—the mind contending with the body, forcing it into postures that the body is resisting. Yoga is a dance, not a wrestling match.” ― Bernie Clark, The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga: The Philosophy and Practice of Yin Yoga

:: GROUNDING ::
' It just so happens that humans are actually meant to touch the earth. Traditional healthcare systems like Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine have promoted the health benefits for thousands of years. Now a growing body of evidence-based research is proving what those wise physicians knew all along. Recent research into the effects of grounding is showing that it leads to an increase in parasympathetic (calming) nervous system activity, & reduces sympathetic (stress-response) activity. The end result of this effect; your entire body (not just your mind) calms down. Additional research into other parameters of stress has shown that grounding normalizes both cortisol secretion (stress activity in the body), & melatonin secretion, which is crucial for a good night’s sleep. Touching the earth is anti-inflammatory. An inflammatory response in your body begins with the production of free radicals (electrically charged particles) in an injured area, which help prevent infection and stimulate the healing process. However, when an inflammatory response becomes chronic, the excessive free radical activity begins to damage healthy tissue in the surrounding area. Grounding yourself, which saturates the healthy tissue in your body with negative electrons, creates a barrier through which these free radicals cannot pass, in turn protecting you from the outlying damage they would otherwise cause. Touching the earth helps keep your blood flowing well through your veins, arteries & capillaries. The cells need to move freely amongst each other, and not get stuck together. To aid in this process the surface of your red blood cells all have a negative charge to them (zeta potential), causing them to repel each other. The greater the negative charge is around your blood cells, the greater the zeta potential, & the better your blood will flow. The electrons you absorb from the earth’s surface are negatively charged & lead to a greater zeta potential, which is why grounding helps naturally thin your blood. Perhaps the most obvious explanation, however, is that it is simply natural. Ground, reconnect, your body will thank you for it! '
