Musculoskeletal Health Australia - MHA

Musculoskeletal Health Australia - MHA Musculoskeletal Health Australia has been supporting people with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions for 50 years. We’re here to help you.
(1)

We exist to improve knowledge, choice and connection that drives positive outcomes for people impacted by musculoskeletal conditions, and to promote excellence in support and care. It all started in 1968, when Dr Leslie Koadlow, a passionate rheumatologist, decided we could do better. Newly diagnosed patients kept coming to his clinic totally overwhelmed, isolated and confused about where to start

. A firm believer in the benefit of ‘real people helping real people’, he set up the Rheumatism and Arthritis Association of Victoria (RAAV) with his secretary Alice Petty and patient Mollie Riches. RAAV became a place for those living with musculoskeletal conditions to get informed and get supported. Fifty years later we’re still helping people with information and support.

The future of Lupus treatment is full of promise.

Lani Watson lived with constant fatigue, joint pain and a severe skin rash since being diagnosed. However, after undergoing ground-breaking research she is back playing football and living symptom-free.

For most people living with lupus, conventional treatments are still the mainstay of care. Staying connected to your lupus specialist, sticking to your treatment plan, and acting early when symptoms change remain the keys to living well.

It is exciting to see researchers testing new treatment methods to help people living with severe autoimmune conditions like lupus.
