We are incredibly sad to announce that we have had to close the Hunter branch due to the ongoing lack of trained Team Leaders in the branch.

Without trained Team Leaders we cannot safely run events and DSAA will never compromise the safety of our participants or volunteers.

Thanks to everyone for all your support over the years and thanks to the Central Coast branch who have helped support Hunter greatly at recent events.

We hope any Hunter based volunteers and surfers, still eager for their fix of "Smiles On Dials", will consider attending the Central Coast events at Umina.

In the future, if enough trained volunteers with a keen commitment to the ongoing running and success of a branch can be found we will definitely reconsider opening the branch but for now it is with much regret that we will be closing.

Hey all, we're very sorry to let you know that due to safety issues, our event on December 9 has unfortunately been cancelled.

We will be back online soon with an update about events that are due to run in 2024.

It is our aim to bring you more amazing moments like these as soon as we can and we're sorry for any disappointment 🫶

At this stage, we are only calling on volunteers to register by 'purchasing a ticket'. We'll let you know as soon the event is open to surfers- it won't be too long now!

Sorry we've been a bit quiet!
Just giving you all a little update- the training day in November has now been cancelled, but the other dates we had asked you to save are still the same, so keep them on your calendar :-) Our first event will be on December 9!
In the next week or so we will post the event details so both participants and volunteers can register- so please start spreading the word if you know anyone who might be interested! 🤙

Are you a DSA member?? Memberships keep us going and they're only $20 per year.

Your membership assists the DSA to provide the insurances and the special equipment such as aquatic wheelchairs, soft long boards, surf socks, rash vests, etc that are required to get our participants in the water and to get ‘smiles on dials’.

Once you are a member you are welcomed into the DSA family and you are able to attend any and all 20 branches and their events. Additionally, some branches hold ‘members only’ events held throughout the year which you can also attend.
