Álainn Spanish Horses

Álainn Spanish Horses A small stud dedicated to the breeding of quality Pure Spanish Horses/Pura Raza Española in Australia .

We are a small Spanish Horse (PRE) stud located on 25 acres, less than fifteen minutes drive from the idyllic Capricorn Coast in Central Queensland. Our property consists of mostly flat, fertile pastures with a beautiful permanent creek meandering through our property. This combined with high rainfall and mild winters, provides an ideal environment for the breeding, raising and training of our Spa

nish Horses. The love of Spanish Horses began some time ago and what originated as a dream through the eyes of an idealist teenager, has evolved into a lifetime commitment to the breed and its growth in this region. Initially, it was the distant admiration of what could be described as nothing less than the most physically beautiful horse eyes were ever laid on. However as the passion grew, it was quickly realised that the fiery yet docile, wild spirited yet highly trainable temperament was equally as beautiful and impressive as its statuesque physique.
Álainn (pronounced all-in) Spanish Horses is focused on quality rather than quantity and we are committed to the introduction of new bloodlines into this country. Consequently, in the coming years, we are striving to enhance and strengthen the genetic variability, type and quality of PRE horses available in Australia, to produce an animal that can not only be a versatile all-rounder, but also a genuine alternative to the warmblood in the dressage arena.

ASH Aragorn aka Norm being lightly started under saddle before being turned out again. He’s growing into a stunner and we are looking forward to seeing him out and about in Working Equitation in the future.

This is what Simone his owner has to say of the process “Nothing phases him and he’s bloody sure footed for a baby still. Happy to trail at the end of a group of horses, happy to lead and go up front. Peter, who is an extremely experienced horseman and started thousands of horses, is just blown away by him. I’m not sure I will get my pony back 🤣🤣.”

The winter Woolies are in full bloom here at the moment. Bonnie and her girls and even grandkids have always had super fluffy winter coats and are just like big teddy bears at this time of year! Lujosa (pictured here and currently rugged because she’s been a bit itchy lately), Inedito and Atrevido on the other hand have gorgeous fine coats that are barely distinguishable from their summer coats. Genetics and heritability are just fascinating

Thank you to all enquirers, Dulcie has gone to her new home this afternoon, which happens to be just down the road (in rural terms!). Looking forward to watching her thrive in her new home 🥰

On the rare occasion that I have time to pull up and have a look, I’m blown away by the quality of this c**t every time. Just over five months old now, he is tall, beautifully put together and has the amazing movement I’ve come to expect with this cross, he is going to make an incredible ridden partner for someone in the future.

It has been a long time between rides and despite his sheer terror at the kids and dogs running at him from behind bushes (I may have yelled some profanities, justified I feel after I had called out the the adults prior and asked them to make themselves known to him {I saw them before he did!}) and his first time ever seeing a pig, we had a great time and can’t wait to be back in the saddle again 🥰

This lovely little lady is available for sale upon weaning her filly early next month. Dulcie ie Dulcinea B is a pure Spanish mare registered with the AHAA. She is just on 13 years old and is on the smaller side for a Spanish mare at only 14.2 hh, but very solid. She has had one stunning partbred filly for us that we will be retaining. Dulcie was started under saddle as a younger mare was going very well. She also had a couple of short rides in the first few weeks here so would be very easy to get started again. She is priced for a quick sale in broodmare condition at 7🥕🥕🥕, however once her foal has been weaned, she will be going back under saddle and her price will increase accordingly. She has an old scar on her hind leg, but this is cosmetic only and does not effect her movement. PM for more info

And here it is, the fourth confirmed pregnancy by Inedito for the season, Bonnie’s dragon! Inedito Mar (imp Spain)x Hanna Bondadosa (imp NZ). This is a 50 day scan. With Bonnie being 18 years old now and having some ongoing tendon issues in her back legs, this is likely to be her last foal. We have had four c**ts in a row of this cross, can we all keep everything crossed that we have a filly brewing this time?
