I didn’t really see this coming- it has been coming for sometime and not a secret at all for my clients and my circle of beautiful people that I am taking 12 months off private midwifery. As life changes and the health of myself needs my focus.

But it is time for the next chapter ❤️
We are moving back to the country lifestyle + simple life for a bit. Is this a permanent career shift that I am not fully aware yet, but I do know my family, my health and my soul need this shift in our lives.

It is so right for us at this moment to pack our life up and go on to our next adventure, with me off call and more hours in my home with my boys.

I have loved and learnt so much from all the beautiful families I have met on this journey. And the amazing women who supported in this crazy time of our lives. From my work wife , . to the other amazing private midwives along the way and the incredible doulas, lactation consultants, chiropractor that have helped become a village to the families but to myself. You all hold a special place in my heart and I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without you 🥰❤️

👋 Hi my name is Libby Campbell, as a recently retired midwife and registered nurse, I know what it means to you as a woman to have a positive pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience 🤰

✨labour land ✨

During labour, a “cocktail” of natural hormones facilitates the process: Oxytocin triggers contractions and promotes bonding, Prostaglandins soften and open the cervix, Relaxin stretches pelvic ligaments, Beta-endorphins provide natural pain relief and induce euphoria, and Adrenaline and Noradrenaline surge before birth to provide energy for strong contractions. These hormones work together in a finely tuned system to ensure the safe and natural progression of childbirth

Did you know we hire out TENS machines?

A tens machine is a great labour tool to add to your toolkit for birth.

For increasing your comfort without using medication have you considered TENS during labour?
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is one of the many pain relief options you have. It’s non-invasive and doesn’t use medicine – it uses electrical energy. Using TENS during labour is considered safe for you and baby.

Oh.. the things I wish people knew about birth.
I could talk about these all day. And if you think some a ridiculous it is because they are, but it can be some people’s reality.

When baby weighs catch you off guard after a physiological precipitous (fast) homebirth. 3rd time mumma, bringing her first baby boy into the world with dad by their side.

Women can do anything when they have the right care team in their corner.

So many women are scared into large babies can’t be birthed vaginally or require induction of labour but this mumma had no signs of needing growth scans for pregnancy with a low risk pregnancy and birthed her baby into the comfort and safety of her own home.

The meaning of midwife is to be with women

And I can not thank my amazing work wives and the amazing women of my community enough for helping me blossom into my true autonomy as a midwife.

To sit in silence in the late hours of the night to the early hours of the mornings, to hold and encourage women in the thickness of the raw and instinctive process of birthing, to chat and educate throughout pregnancy and postpartum journeys. In every relationship it is personal, it is tailored to the needs of the women and their families as well as I learnt more and more about myself every day in these opportunities

We welcome our new puppy Trigger to the family.

Bolt was so excited to play but he had a laceration to his main artery in his leg on Wednesday major surgery and 0 strict rest on day 3 and he’s over it 😂

My days not with families I am at my house growing and feeding baby animals 😂 But both pups are doing well, our baby chickens are getting massive and our 4 month old baby python is snoozing the days away
